Get Azure Skitterfly mount

The Azure Skitterfly is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 10.0 of the Dragonflight expansion. It is a large, azure-colored insect from the Dragon Isles, tamed by members of the Dragonscale Expedition. The mount can be obtained for free as a reward from the Skitterfly Riding quest, or purchased from vendors at the Dragonscale Basecamp in The Waking Shores once you reach Renown level 25 with the Dragonscale Expedition.

The Azure Skitterfly is one of three rideable skitterflies in Dragonflight. It stands out with its bright blue coloring and smooth flight animation. According to the lore, the skitterflies arrived following the skitterbugs that were lovingly nursed at the expedition camp. Instead of attacking, the adult specimens settled nearby — much like gryphons.

• Free from a quest — when you reach Renown level 25 with the Dragonscale Expedition, you receive a quest whose reward lets you choose either the Azure Skitterfly or the Tamed Skitterfly completely for free
• Skyriding support — the mount is fully compatible with the Skyriding system, letting you use it alongside dragons for fast travel
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Its speed scales with your Riding skill: from +60% to +310%
• Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount is bound to your account and becomes available on all of your characters
• Unique model — among the hundreds of mounts in WoW, skitterflies hold a special place thanks to their unusual design: a large flying insect with transparent wings and a distinctive buzz

There are two ways to obtain the Azure Skitterfly: for free through a quest, or for materials from a vendor.

Method 1: The Skitterfly Riding Quest (free)

1. Farm your Renown with the Dragonscale Expedition up to level 25
2. Head to the Dragonscale Basecamp in The Waking Shores
3. Find Granpap Whiskers at coordinates 47.6, 83.2
4. Accept the Skitterfly Riding quest (ID: 70821)
5. As your reward, choose one of two mounts: the Azure Skitterfly or the Tamed Skitterfly
6. Use the item you receive to learn the mount

Method 2: Purchase from a Vendor

If you have already chosen the Tamed Skitterfly in the quest, or want the mount without waiting on the quest, you can buy it from the vendors:

1. Reach Renown level 25 with the Dragonscale Expedition
2. Gather the required materials (see the table below)
3. Find Granpap Whiskers (47.6, 83.2) or Cataloger Jakes (47.0, 82.6) at the Dragonscale Basecamp
4. Purchase the Azure Skitterfly and use the item

If you decide to buy the mount from a vendor, you will need three types of resources.

Dragon Isles Supplies (750)

This is the main currency of the Dragon Isles. Ways to obtain it:

• Supply containers — found throughout all zones of the Dragon Isles, holding from 5 to 20 supplies
• World quests — many quests reward supplies as a bonus
• Rare enemies — drop supplies when killed
• Quests — some story and side quests award supplies

Contoured Fowlfeather (20)

Gathered from waterfowl of the Dragon Isles:

• Ducks, waterfowl and shorebirds in The Waking Shores and the Ohn'ahran Plains
• The drop rate is fairly high — collecting 20 feathers takes 15–30 minutes of focused farming

Iridescent Plume (5)

Gathered from birds of prey:

• Eagles, ohunas, stormtalons and winged hunters across the various zones of the Dragon Isles
• The drop rate is lower than for Contoured Fowlfeathers, but 5 of them can be collected in 10–20 minutes

To reach Renown level 25 you need a total of 62,500 reputation points (2,500 per level). The main sources are listed below.

Story Campaign (main source)

The main Dragon Isles campaign grants a significant amount of reputation with the Dragonscale Expedition. Complete all chapters of the story line — this will provide the first several Renown levels automatically.

World Quests

Dragonscale Expedition world quests are available across all four zones of the Dragon Isles. Each quest rewards reputation. They refresh several times a day.

Hunting for Treasures and Artifacts (the most efficient farm)

This is the most productive leveling method. Collect treasures containing Dragon Isles artifacts across all zones. Unlike world quests, this method has no daily cap — you can farm as much as your patience allows.

Exploring Mountain Peaks

Plant expedition flags on mountain peaks — each peak you discover grants reputation with the Dragonscale Expedition.

Weekly Quests

Complete the weekly orders at the expedition camp for a steady stream of reputation.

Archivist Quests

The archivist quests at the Dragonscale Basecamp are another repeatable source of reputation.

Dragonflight offers three rideable skitterflies that share the same model but differ in color.

The Tamed Skitterfly can be chosen in the same Skitterfly Riding quest instead of the Azure one. The Verdant Skitterfly is a rare drop from Expedition Scout's Packs found across all zones of the Dragon Isles.
