Baa'rut the Brisk
Overview

Baa'rut the Brisk is a collectible toy that summons a rideable spectral talbuk. The item was added in patch 7.3 "Shadows of Argus" and drops from the rare elite creature Baruut the Bloodthirsty in the Mac'Aree zone on the planet Argus. The item is bind-on-pickup, is unique, and has a 20-minute cooldown.
An important quirk: even though it looks like a full mount, the summon only works within Mac'Aree. Outside the zone the toy will not function, which is why it does not appear in your character's mount collection — it is stored in the "Toys" tab. The in-game description emphasizes its speed: "This is a very, VERY fast mount."
Why you want this mount
- A unique spectral talbuk model — a semi-transparent model with a bluish glow that no other mount in the collection replicates. It stands out visually next to the standard Draenor talbuks.
- Maximum movement speed in Mac'Aree — while the talbuk is active it rides like a normal ground mount, speeding up the collection of rare creatures, chests and veiled argunite in the zone.
- Part of the Argus rarities collection — one of dozens of collectible items from patch 7.3 that can still be gathered. Useful for achievement and transmog hunters of the Legion era.
- A symbolic trophy for killing a rare creature — not the most obvious drop in Mac'Aree; many players skip it during the story campaign and come back specifically for the toy.
Requirements and prerequisites
To access Mac'Aree you must complete the Argus story line. You do not have to redo it on alts — once it is finished on your main character, the Vindicaar teleports open up account-wide.
- Level 45 and completion of the Legion intro chain from Archmage Khadgar in Dalaran.
- The Argus story campaign — the consecutive chains in Krokuun, Antoran Wastes and Mac'Aree. At the current level 80, completion takes 2–3 hours.
- Access to the Vindicaar — the draenei landing ship serves as the hub from which you teleport between the zones of Argus.
- If the campaign is done on your main — alts immediately gain the ability to teleport to all three zones via Romuul aboard the Vindicaar.
How to reach Mac'Aree
- Log in on a character of level 45+
- Use the teleport to Legion-era Dalaran (the Dalaran icon in your hearthstone list from any mage, or via the NPC Arille in current Dalaran)
- Find the portal room in Dalaran and take the portal to the Vindicaar. If the portal is unavailable — start with the quest "The Hand of Fate" from Archmage Khadgar in the Violet Citadel
- Aboard the Vindicaar, speak with Romuul and choose the teleport to Mac'Aree
- From the landing point head toward the ruins of Oronaar. Approximate coordinates of Baruut the Bloodthirsty's spawn point:
Step-by-step farm of Baa'rut the Brisk
- Travel to the Vindicaar and teleport to Mac'Aree.
- Head to the coordinates 43.8, 60.2 — a small platform in the ruins of Oronaar with several talbuks.
- Check whether Baruut the Bloodthirsty is available — the creature scales to the player's level, so at max level it dies in a few hits.
- Kill it. Its main abilities are a hoof strike (knocks back and deals Shadow damage) and a dust cloud (reduces your damage by 25%). At level 80 these mechanics pose no threat.
- Loot it. With a small chance it will contain
Baa'rut the Brisk. - If the toy did not drop, come back the next day — most Argus rare creatures have a daily per-character reset.
Farm optimization
Multi-farming on alts
Every character that has completed the Argus campaign gets its own roll on the toy once per day. Bringing in 3–5 alts increases your chances by the corresponding number of times.
- After finishing the campaign on your main, alts can immediately use Romuul's teleport — there is no need to run the whole story again.
- Keep an active hearthstone bound to the Vindicaar on each alt, or use the
Draenei Preparation Pylon for an instant return. - You can fold the Baruut the Bloodthirsty check into a weekly Argus loop alongside the other rare creatures that drop other mounts.
Optimal class
Any class with good mobility is suitable for farming Argus rares. At level 80 the damage limit is irrelevant, and class choice comes down to movement speed:
- Druid — Travel Form and instant shifting into the form you need.
- Death Knight —
Death's Advance grants +35% run speed for 10 sec. - Monk —
Roll and high speed in wanderer form. - Shaman —
Ghost Wolf for quick movement between points.
Compatibility with other goals
While you wait for Baruut to respawn, gather other loot in Mac'Aree in parallel:
- Veiled argunite from rare creatures and chests — the patch 7.3 currency that can pay for item-level 940 gear from Thaumaturge Vashreen for transmog
- Toys, pets and other mounts from Argus rare creatures — see the patch 7.3 rarities guide
- Related Mac'Aree achievements.
Tips and tricks
- Use the toy inside Mac'Aree — as soon as you get Baa'rut the Brisk, activate it right on the spot. The talbuk moves like a normal ground mount, noticeably speeding up your sweep of rare creatures and chests.
- Set a marker on Baruut in a tracking addon — the rare creature appears without a noticeable chat announcement. Addons like Rarity or SilverDragon will highlight it on the map as soon as it spawns.
- Kill first, talk later — Baruut has a knockback mechanic, so at low server latency start the fight instantly to avoid sharing the loot with other players.
- The toy is not added to the mount journal — after obtaining it, look for it in the "Toys" tab of your collection. Many people mistakenly think the item is broken when they cannot find it among ordinary mounts.
- Mind the zone restriction — Baa'rut the Brisk only works in Mac'Aree. For travel outside the zone, use your normal mounts.
- Exactly one summon per 20 minutes — if you leave Mac'Aree before the cooldown expires and come back, the timer does not reset. Plan your route in advance.
- Collect parallel goals — while you farm the toy, stockpile veiled argunite, finish off achievements and look for other patch 7.3 rarities. A single Mac'Aree run on an alt brings several rewards at once.
