Overview

Reins of the Blue Shado-Pan Riding Tiger

Game iconReins of the Blue Shado-Pan Riding Tiger is an epic ground mount added in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. It is one of three riding tigers bred and trained by the Shado-Pan order in the Townlong Steppes. The mount is purchased from Jouster Wushen at the Shado-Pan Garrison for 500 gold once you reach Exalted reputation with the Shado-Pan faction.

The blue tiger is the most affordable of the three Shado-Pan tigers: the same quartermaster also sells Game iconReins of the Green Shado-Pan Riding Tiger and Game iconReins of the Red Shado-Pan Riding Tiger. All three mounts differ only in color, so if you are chasing mount count in your collection, it makes sense to grab the whole set at once while you have access to the quartermaster.

The tiger is adorned with blue armor and tack bearing the order's emblem — the same one you see on the Shado-Pan warriors throughout the Mists of Pandaria storyline. The mount's speed is standard for ground transport: +60% with Apprentice Riding and +100% with Journeyman Riding.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the mount does not depend on a drop rate and is not tied to raids. Simply grind your reputation to Exalted and the purchase becomes a matter of time, not luck
  • Lowest price in the lineup — among the three Shado-Pan tigers, the blue version is the cheapest, so it is a convenient place to start your collection
  • Tied to the Pandaria story — the Shado-Pan order defends Pandaria from the Sha, the mogu, and the mantid. The mount highlights your character's allegiance to one of the most atmospheric factions of the expansion
  • Available to all characters on the account — like most mounts since Mists of Pandaria, once purchased it becomes shared across all your characters

How to Get It

To buy the mount you need to meet two conditions: reach Exalted reputation with the Shado-Pan faction and carry 500 gold.

  1. Unlock access to Pandaria and fly to the Townlong Steppes. In the original Mists of Pandaria, completing the expansion's intro campaign is enough
  2. Head to the Shado-Pan Garrison in the southwest of the Townlong Steppes
  3. Pick up the daily quests from one of the three masters: Lin Tenderpaw, Master Snowdrift or Rou Bearheart
  4. Complete the daily quests until you reach Exalted with the Shado-Pan
  5. Walk up to Jouster Wushen by the campfire in the center of the garrison and buy Game iconReins of the Blue Shado-Pan Riding Tiger for 500 gold
  6. Use the scroll to learn the mount

How to Reach the Shado-Pan Garrison

The Shado-Pan Garrison is located in the southwestern part of the Townlong Steppes. The zone opens up after you complete the basic Mists of Pandaria campaign and raise your reputation with the Pandaria factions to the required level.

First Visit

  1. Make your way to your faction's Pandaria capital — the Shrine of Seven Stars (Alliance) or the Shrine of Two Moons (Horde) in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms
  2. Take the quest chain tied to the Shado-Pan order. It will lead you through the Shado-Pan Monastery and unlock access to the Garrison
  3. After finishing the intro quests in the garrison, you will be able to take daily quests and use the quartermaster's services

Quick Access

  • Use a Game iconHearthstone set to the inn in the Townlong Steppes
  • Teleport to the Shrine of Seven Stars or Shrine of Two Moons and fly to the garrison on a flying mount
  • In Midnight, open the Chromie system and select the Mists of Pandaria timeline to grind reputation more conveniently

Grinding Shado-Pan Reputation

To go from Neutral to Exalted you need to earn 42,000 reputation points. On average this takes 2 to 4 weeks of daily play.

Daily Quests

Each day, one of three quest sets is available at the Shado-Pan Garrison. The master who hands out quests that day is chosen at random:

Rou Bearheart — quests against the mogu in the north of the Townlong Steppes Lin Tenderpaw — quests against the mantid in the west of the zone Master Snowdrift — quests against the yaungol in the east

Each set consists of four warm-up quests and one final quest with an elite enemy. For each regular quest you receive 250 reputation points, and the final challenge quest grants an additional 350. In total that is 1,250–1,600 reputation points per day.

One-Time Sources

  • Shado-Pan Monastery quests — the dungeon in northern Kun-Lai grants about 1,500 reputation points through its accompanying quests
  • First kill of Sha of Anger — the world boss in Kun-Lai grants a one-time reputation bonus
  • Rare enemies in the Townlong Steppes — some rare mobs grant small portions of reputation on the first kill

Doubling Reputation

Upon reaching Revered, you can buy the Grand Commendation of the Shado-Pan from Jouster Wushen. This item doubles the reputation earned with the Shado-Pan on all characters on the account, including the one who used the item. If you plan to collect all three tigers or grind reputation on alts, be sure to buy the commendation right after Revered.

Optimizing the Farm

Daily Plan

  1. Enter the Shado-Pan Garrison and check which quest set is active today
  2. Pick up all available warm-up quests from the active master
  3. Complete them in a row — they are arranged compactly in one location
  4. Finish the final challenge quest with the elite enemy, choosing a companion if needed
  5. Turn in the quests and collect your daily portion of reputation

Extra Speed Tips

  • Do the quests every day — without daily quests the grind will stretch out over months
  • Don't skip the finale — the challenge quest grants more reputation than the regular ones and takes only a few minutes with a companion
  • Buy the Grand Commendation as early as possible — it pays for itself by the midpoint between Revered and Exalted
  • Use the faction tabard — wear the Game iconShado-Pan Tabard when running max-level Mists of Pandaria dungeons to earn extra reputation

How Long It Takes

Doing all the quests daily, the grind from Neutral to Exalted takes about 20–25 days without doubled reputation. With the Grand Commendation, the time drops to 12–15 days if you buy the item right after Revered.

Tips

1

Start with the blue tiger — if your budget is limited, ability_mount_siberiantigermountReins of the Blue Shado-Pan Riding Tiger costs only 500 gold versus thousands of gold for the other options. Collect the remaining tigers later

2

Grab the whole set at once — once you already have Exalted, it is sensible to buy all three tigers in a single visit. No repeat grind is required, and it saves you trips back to the Garrison

3

Check which master is active — if you dislike a certain type of quest, skip the day or come back later when the active set changes

4

The mount does not fly — keep in mind that all three Shado-Pan tigers are purely ground mounts. Use a flying mount for aerial travel and keep the tiger for ground rides

5

Farm at max level — at level 90 (Midnight) all Mists of Pandaria quests are completed instantly, so you don't waste any time

6

Combine it with the achievement collection — while grinding you will earn many zone and exploration achievements in the Townlong Steppes, and make progress toward the meta-achievement Glorious!

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
