Get Brown Elekk mount
Overview

Brown Elekk is a ground racial mount for the draenei of the Alliance, added to World of Warcraft with The Burning Crusade expansion (patch 2.0). Elekks are massive, mastodon-like beasts native to Draenor, which the draenei have used as riding and pack animals for centuries. The brown coloring is one of the basic and cheapest variants: the model is the same as the purple and gray elekks, only the texture differs.
The mount is sold by the elekk breeder Torallius the Pack Handler in the Exodar. Draenei of any specialization and level can buy it immediately after learning the riding skill. All other Alliance races can purchase the mount only at Exalted reputation with the Exodar faction.
Why you want this mount
- A cheap starter mount for a draenei — the Brown Elekk costs literally one gold and lets a draenei character switch to a mount without spending money on other color variants
- Expanding your mount collection — once obtained, the mount is saved account-wide and counts toward your total of collected mounts for achievements
- The foundation of an elekk collection — Torallius sells six color variants in total, and the Brown Elekk covers one of them. The remaining five are unlocked from the same vendor, so a single trip covers the entire lineup
- Speed depends on riding skill — the mount gains +60% or +100% movement speed depending on your riding rank, meaning it rides exactly as fast as any other regular ground mount
- An alternative to the draenei's standard animals — visually, the elekk stands out strongly against the usual horses, wolves, and rams, especially in older zones where it looks fitting and characterful
How to get the mount
The main and only method is to buy the
Brown Elekk from the vendor in the Exodar. If you play a draenei, the process takes a couple of minutes. For other Alliance races, you will first have to grind reputation up to Exalted.
- Travel to the Exodar — the draenei capital on Azuremyst Isle. The fastest way is through the portal from Stormwind or Orgrimmar
- Enter the ship and go up to the upper ring around the Seat of the Naaru. At the elekk pens north of the trade quarter, you will be met by Torallius the Pack Handler, labeled "Elekk Breeder"
- Make sure you have learned the
Apprentice Riding skill — this is the minimum requirement for all regular ground mounts - If your character is not a draenei, check your reputation with the Exodar faction. You need Exalted status
- Open the trade window with Torallius and buy the
Brown Elekk for 1 gold - Use the item from your bag — it teaches the summoning spell, and the mount will appear in your collection forever
Where to find Torallius the Pack Handler
The Exodar is divided into several sectors around the central hall of the Seat of the Naaru. Torallius stands in the northern part of the city, where the draenei animals are kept — next to the elekk pens.
How to get Exalted with the Exodar
If you do not play a draenei, the mount will not be sold without Exalted status. Reputation with the Exodar accumulates slowly, but there is no time limit — you can complete it in one or two evenings at max level.
Main ways to earn reputation:
- Exodar Tabard. Buy the
Exodar Tabard for 10 silver from the quartermaster Kadu, also in the Exodar. Wear it and run classic dungeons and those of later expansions — all reputation from kills in the dungeon will count toward the Exodar - Tournament daily quests — at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown, competing on behalf of the draenei, you receive daily quests that give a noticeable boost to Exodar reputation
- Draenei starting zone quests — Azuremyst Isle and the neighboring Bloodmyst Isle contain dozens of quests granting Exodar reputation. This is relevant for low-level characters leveling in these zones
At max level, the easiest way is to put on the tabard and run 5-10 classic dungeons — that is enough to clear the missing reputation levels. If you ever completed quests on Azuremyst Isle on a draenei alt or Alliance character, some reputation may already be banked — check your reputation tab before the trip.
Tips and common mistakes
- Visit the Exodar at least once on a draenei alt — if you have a free character slot, it makes sense to create a draenei and complete the introductory quests on Azuremyst Isle. First, this grants significant Exodar reputation that will be useful for your other characters. Second, a draenei buys the mount without restrictions
- Check Torallius's exact location — he stands not inside the Exodar trade quarter, but a bit further, by the pens with live elekks to the north. If you do not see elekks around the vendor, you have come to the wrong place
- Do not confuse him with Kadu — Quartermaster Kadu sells tabards and reputation rewards, but not mounts. Only Torallius sells elekks
- Collect all the colors in one visit — once you reach Exalted, buy all six elekks at once. Coming back later will be too much of a hassle, and your mount collection will gain six entries at once
- Account-wide mount — it is enough to buy it once on any character, and it unlocks for all your Alliance heroes, including future ones. If you already got the Brown Elekk on an old draenei, check your collection — you may already have it
- The no-reputation method is a draenei — in World of Warcraft there is no, and there are no plans for, an alternative source of the Brown Elekk. If you do not want to grind reputation, the only option is to buy it on a draenei character
