Fang of the Sundered Flame — Transmog Set Guide

Fang of the Sundered Flame is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the Dragonflight expansion (patch 10.1, "Embers of Neltharion"). The blade is shaped like folded dragon wings, with a blood-red stone set into its base. Every few seconds a runic animation seeps out of the stone — the dagger isn't static, but lives with a smoldering light of its own.

This weapon is directly tied to the raid's storyline: the faction of dracthyr led by Sarkareth called themselves the Sundered Flame after renouncing the legacy of the black dragon Neltharion. The dagger bears the name of that faction and visually echoes its aesthetic — charred scales, dark metal and the bloody glow of the void.

In terms of stats, the dagger is meant for rogues of the Assassination and Subtlety specializations — it carries agility, stamina, critical strike rating and mastery. But for a transmog collector the numbers don't matter, the look does: once the item is obtained, its appearance is saved in your collection forever and is available to any character on the account able to wield daggers.

The Fang of the Sundered Flame drops from Sarkareth — the ninth and final boss of the raid Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible. The raid is located in the Zaralek Cavern beneath the Dragon Isles and was opened in patch 10.1.

Key details on obtaining it:

• The boss is found in the fourth wing of the raid — "The Edge of the Abyss." To reach him you need to kill the eight previous bosses, or enter through an already opened wing if the raid is partially cleared.
• The dagger drops on every difficulty — Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic and Mythic. The weapon's appearance is identical on every difficulty: unlike armor sets, the raid weapons of Aberrus have no color variations by difficulty.
• The loot is personal: after Sarkareth is killed, each player receives their own set of items, rolled individually. The dagger is part of the boss's general loot pool and isn't guaranteed in a single run.
• Wowhead does not track the exact drop chance — the item shares Sarkareth's loot table with other things, so you usually have to come back for the appearance several weeks in a row.
• There is no limit on attempts: the raid can be run once a week on each difficulty, and you can also farm old content on several difficulties in a single evening.

Today Aberrus is an outdated raid from a previous expansion, so a character at the current maximum level clears it solo without trouble. On Raid Finder and Normal difficulty Sarkareth is killed in mere seconds, and the only obstacle to farming the appearance is the weekly loot reset.

• The look is built around a blood-red glow and dark metal — the dagger blends naturally with the Aberrus rogue armor sets in dark-red tones.
• It pairs well with transmog themed around the black dragon and shadowflame: charred scales, coal-black plate and red accents reinforce one another.
• The runic animation on the stone makes the dagger stand out in a pair — take it as your main-hand weapon and put a calmer blade in your off-hand, so the glow doesn't overload the look.
• A bold yet contrasting choice is a set in light or golden tones: the red glow of the blade will stand out sharply, which suits looks that emphasize the weapon.
• Thematically it fits dracthyr and dragon concepts thanks to the silhouette of folded wings at the base of the blade.
