Fang of Vashj — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Fang of Vashj is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with The Burning Crusade expansion. The blade is steeped in the naga aesthetic of the Coilfang Reservoir: the curved edge resembles a hooked naga tooth, and the cold blue-green palette echoes the underwater halls of the raid where it drops.
The main value of the Fang of Vashj lies precisely in its appearance. There are few naga- and underwater-themed daggers in the game, and the smooth "fang" silhouette makes this blade a striking choice for sea-themed and dark elf-style looks.
Source
The Fang of Vashj drops from the raid's final boss, Lady Vashj, ruler of the Coilfang Reservoir. The fight takes place in the raid dungeon Serpentshrine Cavern, which belongs to The Burning Crusade content.
- The dagger drops with roughly a 17% chance when Lady Vashj is killed — a very high chance for a transmog drop.
- Lady Vashj is the last boss of the raid, with five bosses to clear before reaching her.
- Loot follows legacy rules: to receive items solo, your character must be at least 11 levels above the raid.
- The entrance to Serpentshrine Cavern lies underwater in the center of Serpent Lake in Zangarmarsh: you need to dive into a large pipe and descend into the Coilfang Reservoir, then enter the raid portal.
- Attunement requirements for this The Burning Crusade raid have long been removed in the modern game — you can enter right away, with no quest chains.
If the appearance does not drop, you can try again: the raid resets once a week per character.
Alternatives
The Fang of Vashj has no known color variations of its appearance — the model is unique. If you want a curved epic dagger of a similar era and silhouette, take a look at blades from neighboring The Burning Crusade raids.
These daggers can also be farmed solo and belong to the same expansion, so they pair well with the Fang of Vashj in a matched rogue set. Note that one such shard-blade reward is class-restricted: it can only be obtained and transmogged by a rogue.
Who It Suits Visually
- Fits perfectly into naga- and underwater-themed looks — the cold blue-green palette echoes the theme of Serpentshrine Cavern.
- Harmonizes with cloth and leather sets in cold tones — blue, turquoise, and silver outfits.
- Looks great paired with a second curved dagger, for example
Fang of Kalecgos, giving a rogue a cohesive "twin fang" look. - Contrasts with warm fiery armor: a vivid combination for those building a look on contrast.
- Suits druid and shaman characters who lean toward nature and water aesthetics.
Tips
Bring a max-level character for the farm — the legacy loot rule requires a lead of at least 11 levels, otherwise the item will not drop.
Five bosses stand before Lady Vashj, but most of the trash mobs between them can be skipped, so a solo run takes little time.
Run the raid every week on several characters: the reset limit is once a week per character, and more alts mean more attempts.
Go in alone if you want guaranteed personal loot — solo mode gives you all of the boss's loot without splitting it among group members.
Along with the dagger, the raid bosses also drop tier 5 armor set pieces, so the run is useful for other transmog projects too.
A full clear of Serpentshrine Cavern also brings in a noticeable amount of gold from selling gray and blue loot.
If a transmog drop-rate bonus event is active in the game, save the farm for it — this will speed up collecting the appearance.
