Fangs of Ashamane — Transmog Set Guide

Fangs of Ashamane is the Feral Druid artifact weapon, added to World of Warcraft with the Legion expansion. Technically it is a one-handed dagger for the right hand, forged from the fangs of a fallen Wild God — the panther Ashamane. The peculiarity of the artifact is that on a druid it is almost never seen directly: the artifact appearance defines how the cat form looks, and it is precisely for the new cat form models that players farm all of its colors.

The weapon is available only to the druid class and only to the Feral specialization.

As transmog the artifact is valuable because it turns the cat form from the standard model into a stylized panther with a unique color scheme and effects. It is one of the few ways to radically change the cat form, which is why the artifact is still in demand among druids several expansions after Legion. The dagger model itself in the inventory remains mostly lore-flavored — two massive curved fangs on a bone handle, in a cold gray-black palette.

The base artifact is granted through the druid class campaign. The starting part of the chain leads to the quest The Fangs of Ashamane: the druid must, together with allies, retake Ashamane's shrine in Val'sharah and claim the fangs themselves. After completing the quest the artifact lands in the inventory, and the base appearance unlocks automatically.

• The chain begins in the druid class hall — The Dreamgrove, which the character reaches via the starting quest To The Dreamgrove.
• The starting NPC of the Feral specialization branch is Rensar Greathoof in the Circle of Spirits. He sends the druid to investigate events tied to the shrine.
• The intermediate quests are The Shrine of Ashamane and The Shrine in Peril in the Val'sharah zone.
• The final quest is The Fangs of Ashamane, at the end of which the druid claims the artifact itself.
• The chain is completed once per character. The artifact binds on acquisition and cannot be transferred between heroes.
• In World of Warcraft Remix: Legion the base artifact appearance is granted to a Feral druid automatically within the first minutes of play — this is the fastest way to close out the base variant if your main account never played this specialization.

The cat appearance from the artifact works like a regular transmog: you can apply colors at the barber, but only after the corresponding look has been unlocked. The artifact has several appearance categories, each with a main variant and three additional colors.

• Base appearance "Fangs of Ashamane". Unlocks together with the artifact itself. The additional colors are awarded for Legion campaign progress and raising artifact power.
• Upgraded appearance "Nature's Wrath". Unlocks for completing the class campaign in the Dreamgrove and developing the artifact.
• Valorous appearance "Feral Hunter". This is the look from the "Balance of Power" chain. It requires a lengthy series of quests with runs into Legion dungeons and raids.
• Combat appearance "Embodiment of the Nightmare". PvP variant: the main look was awarded for an honor level across Legion seasons, the colors for activity in rated battlegrounds.
• Mage Tower appearance "Spectral Pridestalker". A reward for the artifact challenge An Impossible Foe against the demoness Agatha. The main look was available only in Legion and is no longer granted; new colors can only be finished off by those who unlocked the base.
• Hidden appearance "Spirit of the Moon". The most unusual model — a cat-owl. Unlocked with the item Feather of the Moonspirit.

To fully close out the artifact with all colors, there is the achievement Power Realized — unlock all the features of a single artifact weapon.

Hidden appearance "Spirit of the Moon"

The hidden appearance is tied to the Feather of the Moonspirit — an artifact-quality item that unlocks the "Spirit of the Moon" look. The chain is time-consuming and luck-dependent.

• First you need to raise artifact knowledge to rank 4 — without it the hunt will not start.
• Once a day in the Emerald Dreamway a special message appears, mentioning one of three zones: Duskwood, Feralas or The Hinterlands.
• You need to go through the indicated portal and find the Mark of the Moonspirit — a small stone with a paw print.
• Once the mark has been clicked in all three zones, Ela'lothen appears in the center of the Emerald Dreamway. Stand before him in cat form and use the /sit command — the "Feather of the Moonspirit" will end up in your inventory.
• On unlucky days there may be no message at all, so the process stretches across several play sessions.

The druid artifact weapon has no "recolors" in the usual sense — it is a unique model tied to the class and specialization. The color variants are designed as appearance unlocks for the artifact itself, not as new daggers.

If the hidden appearance seems too long, the base and upgraded looks are worth making the starting point — they unlock naturally over the course of the class campaign and artifact development. Alternatives similar in silhouette beyond the artifact are worth seeking among the dark bone daggers of Legion and Battle for Azeroth.
