Overview

Reins of the Jade Pterrordax

Reins of the Jade Pterrordax is a flying mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 10.2.7 (May 7, 2024) during the WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria event. It is a winged saurian in an emerald-green hue with bronze tack, designed in the style of Zandalari pterrordax. The item description reads: "This creature is a favored means of transport among the Zandalari. It is also an excellent singer. At least, it thinks so."

Visually, the model resembles the classic pterrordax first introduced in Mists of Pandaria, but the jade coloring is exclusive to the timerunning Remix event. The Reins of the Jade Pterrordax item teaches the spell Jade Pterrordax and is available account-wide once learned.

Why you want this mount

  • Remix exclusive — the mount was sold only during WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria (May 16 – August 20, 2024). After the event ended, the source was closed, making it a collector's rarity.
  • Full set of speeds — it supports every movement type: +60% or +100% ground speed and +150% / +280% / +310% in the air depending on your riding skill and the zone.
  • Zandalari styling — the jade coloring pairs well with Zandalari troll appearances and themed transmog from Battle for Azeroth.
  • Part of a family of four — it was sold in one set alongside Reins of the Amber Pterrordax, Reins of the Bloody Skyscreamer, and Reins of the Night Pterrorwing. All four cost the same.
  • Low barrier to entry — the mount activates as early as level 10 and requires no faction reputations or achievements.

How to obtain

Important: the primary acquisition method worked only during the Pandaria Remix event. After the event ended, the mount is no longer officially sold. Below is the historical path that applied during the availability window.

  1. Create a timerunner character in WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria and complete the introductory quests until you reach open Pandaria.
  2. Stockpile the Bronze currency — it is earned from quests, dungeons, raids, events, and smelting down surplus gear.
  3. Gather at least 4,400 Bronze.
  4. Travel to any of the Infinite Bazaars located in the zones of Pandaria. The nearest one will do — every bazaar offers an identical inventory.
  5. Find Hemet Nesingwary XVII — a gnome with the title "Big Game Hunter."
  6. Buy the Reins of the Jade Pterrordax for 4,400 Bronze.
  7. Use the reins — the mount is added to your collection forever and becomes available to all characters on the account.

Alternatively, the same mount was sold by Horos — an infinite dragonkin in the introductory zone on the Timeless Isle. He carried a reduced inventory and served as a preview of Hemet's full selection.

The Infinite Bazaars of Pandaria

Hemet Nesingwary XVII could be found in every Infinite Bazaar of Pandaria except the Krasarang Wilds — there, hidden agents at faction strongholds served as the vendors. The bazaar worked as the event's shared trading hub: nearby were a Transmogrification Roster, gear upgrades, and other conveniences.

Zone Bazaar location
The Jade Forest North of the zone, near the Tian Monastery
Valley of the Four Winds Center of the zone, just south of Halfhill
Kun-Lai Summit Near the road between settlements
Townlong Steppes Northwest of the zone
Vale of Eternal Blossoms Several points around the perimeter of the vale
Timeless Isle Shore near the Timeless Wharf (vendor Horos)
Krasarang Wilds No bazaar; vendors are hidden at Lion's Landing and Domination Point

The Bronze economy

Bronze was the main currency of the Remix and accumulated from practically every activity a timerunning character did. Efficient sources of Bronze for buying the mount:

  • Pandaria story quests — each quest awarded a noticeable amount of Bronze, and fully completing all zones covered a significant share of one mount's cost.
  • Scaling dungeons and raids — Heart of Fear, Mogu'shan Vaults, Terrace of Endless Spring, and other Pandaria instances awarded Bronze for every successful run.
  • Scenarios and events — short 3-player activities handed out Bronze for minimal time.
  • Smelting down gear — surplus items from dungeons converted into Bronze through a dedicated interface.
  • Daily and weekly tasks — timerunning quests granted Bronze reliably.

Future availability

Blizzard stated that timerunning events would return, and in 2025 a Legion Remix did indeed take place with its own set of mounts. However, there were no official announcements about a rerun of the Mists of Pandaria Remix specifically as of TWW 11.1 (2026).

  • If the Pandaria Remix returns, the mount will most likely be sold again by Hemet Nesingwary XVII.
  • The price and sale conditions may change: in the Legion Remix, some mounts were sold for an increased amount of Bronze.
  • There is no source for this mount outside the Remix in the current patch.
  • Players who managed to buy the mount in 2024 keep it in their collection forever.

Tips

1

If you missed the event — keep an eye on Blizzard announcements about upcoming timerunning seasons. A return of the Pandaria Remix remains the most likely way to get the mount.

2

Collect the family as a set — when the event returns, buy all four pterrordax at once. They take up a single line in the collection and quickly complete the mini-achievements for pterrordax.

3

Don't smelt down mount items — after purchase, learn the ability_mount_pterodactylmountReins of the Jade Pterrordax before the event ends so the mount stays in your collection after the timerunning character is deleted.

4

A close alternative — the inv_pterrordax2mount_redReins of the Scarlet Pterrordax is granted by a free flying quest in the Dragon Isles and uses the same model in a red coloring.

5

Prepare in advance for a future Remix — study the Infinite Bazaar interface and Hemet Nesingwary XVII's location on the Pandaria map so you can head straight to the vendor when the event returns.
