Maddened Chaosrunner — How to Get the Mount
Overview

Maddened Chaosrunner is an epic ground mount added in patch 7.3 of the Legion expansion. It is an Argussian talbuk warped by the energy of the Fel: its horns, mane and maw glow with a characteristic greenish flame. Unlike the other talbuks of Argus, this mount has no saddle or harness — it has literally gone mad and could not be tamed before it came into your hands.
The mount drops from the rare elite Wrangler Kravos in the Eredath zone on the planet Argus. The drop chance is roughly 3–4%, so obtaining the mount will require patience and systematic farming.
Why You Want This Mount
- Rarity — a drop chance of about 3–4% makes the Maddened Chaosrunner a desirable collectible. According to Wowhead statistics, around 25% of players who collect mounts have it
- Unique appearance — unlike the other Argussian talbuks (Vicious War Talbuk, Acid Belcher), this mount lacks any harness and looks wild, covered in the marks of the Fel's corruption
- Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount appears in the collection on every character of the account
- Requires no reputation or gold — unlike many Argus mounts, all you need is to kill a rare enemy and get a lucky drop
How to Get It
The Maddened Chaosrunner drops from Wrangler Kravos — a rare elite enemy of level 45, located in the Eredath zone on Argus.
- Unlock access to Argus. To do so, pick up the starter quest from Khadgar in Dalaran (Broken Isles) and complete the introductory quest chain. Access opens at level 45 (or earlier via Chromie Time)
- Progress through the Argus storyline until the Eredath zone opens. This is the third zone of Argus, which becomes available after completing the quests in Krokuun and the Antoran Wastes
- Reach the Court of Azurelight in Eredath. Wrangler Kravos appears at coordinates 55.7, 59.9
- Kill Wrangler Kravos and collect the loot. If the mount did not drop, come back the next day
Coordinates
Wrangler Kravos Respawn Mechanics
All rare elite enemies on Argus operate on a rotation system. Wrangler Kravos is not available at all times — he appears within an activity window lasting about four hours. During this window the enemy can respawn several times after being killed, but loot can be obtained only once per day per character.
When a world quest is active for Wrangler Kravos, he respawns throughout the entire duration of the quest, which simplifies farming.
How to Check Availability
You can determine whether Wrangler Kravos is available in several ways:
- Open the Eredath map and look for a skull icon with a silvery border around coordinates 55.7, 59.9
- Check whether the "Wrangler Kravos" world quest is active on the Argus map
- Use the RareScanner or HandyNotes: Argus addon to automatically track rare enemies
How to Get to Argus
If you have not yet unlocked Argus, follow these steps:
- Travel to Dalaran in the Broken Isles. Use your hearthstone if it is set to Dalaran, or a portal from your faction capital
- Find Khadgar and pick up the starter quest of the Argus chain
- Follow the storyline — after a few quests you will find yourself aboard the Vindicaar, the ship of the Army of the Light
- Complete the quests in Krokuun, then in the Antoran Wastes, and finally in Eredath
After finishing the introductory chain, a permanent portal to the Vindicaar appears at the Krasus' Landing in Dalaran. From there, use the navigation console to travel between the zones of Argus.
Quick Route to Wrangler Kravos
- Use the portal to the Vindicaar from Krasus' Landing in Dalaran
- On the Vindicaar, approach the navigation console (next to Illidan Stormrage)
- Select the teleport point "Civilization's End" or "Triumvirate's End" in Eredath
- Reach the Court of Azurelight (55.7, 59.9)
Farming Optimization
Daily Plan
At max level Wrangler Kravos is killed in a few seconds. The entire farming process takes no more than five minutes a day:
- Log in and check whether Wrangler Kravos is active on the Eredath map
- If the skull icon is visible — teleport to the Vindicaar and reach the enemy
- Kill Wrangler Kravos and check the loot
- Repeat on alternate characters to increase your chances
Farming on Multiple Characters
Since loot is available once per day per character, the most efficient way to speed up obtaining the mount is to farm on several characters. Each character with Argus access unlocked can try their luck. With a drop chance of ~3–4% and daily attempts on five characters, the probability of getting the mount within a week rises significantly.
Probability Math
At a drop chance of 3.5% and one attempt per day:
- 20 attempts — chance to get the mount ~51%
- 50 attempts — chance ~83%
- 100 attempts — chance ~97%
If you farm on five characters daily, statistically the mount should drop within one to two weeks.
Tips
Use Chromie Time — if you have low-level characters, enable Legion Time to quickly gain access to Argus and start farming
Watch for world quests — when a world quest for Wrangler Kravos is active, he is guaranteed to be available for the entire duration of the quest. This is the perfect time for attempts on all characters
Install the RareScanner addon — this addon automatically notifies you of rare enemies appearing nearby and shows them on the map and minimap
The mount can be traded — if the mount drops, it can be passed to another member of your group within two hours, but only if you were nearby at the kill. Note that trading works only for characters on the same server
Check availability in advance — before teleporting to Argus, open the world map and check whether Wrangler Kravos is displayed. This saves time if the enemy is not currently active
