MoP Classic Mistweaver Monk — Guide (Phase 5)
About the Class
The Mistweaver Monk is a healer who spends mana, but whose strongest heals are locked behind Chi. You can play in two ways: stand in the back and pour out
Soothing Mist,
Surging Mist and
Enveloping Mist, or move into melee — where
Stance of the Wise Serpent turns part of your dealt damage into raid healing.
In a raid this is a very strong single-target and spread-group healer thanks to
Renewing Mist and
Uplift, and on top of that the monk deals more damage than any other healer.
Strengths
- Very powerful single-target healing.
Uplift heals the entire group, even when people are spread out.- Can heal while dealing damage.
- The highest personal damage among all healers.
- Extremely mobile:
Chi Torpedo,
Tiger's Lust,
Transcendence. - Strong emergency buttons:
Life Cocoon and
Revival.
Weaknesses
- You have to manage mana throughout the entire fight.
- Requires ramp-up time before group healing reaches full power.
- No raid-wide damage-reduction cooldown.
- A second resource, Chi, limits your strongest heals.
- Fewer cooldowns than other healers.
Stat Priority
- 1Intellect
- 2Spirit (no lower than 5100)
- 3Haste (up to the Renewing Mist thresholds: 1578 / 4719 / 7864 / 11033 without buffs)
- 4Critical Strike rating
- 5Haste beyond the required threshold
- 6Mastery
You don't need to gather Hit and Expertise separately:
Stance of the Wise Serpent converts 50% of Spirit into both of them, and 5100 Spirit fully solves the miss problem. With the raid buff for 5% haste, the thresholds shift downward.
