Sk'shuul Vaz — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Sk'shuul Vaz is an epic-quality two-handed axe with a striking Old God corruption theme. The blade is shaped from writhing tentacles and bony growths with a pulsing purple-teal glow typical of Ny'alotha's visual style. It is one of the most recognizable "n'zoth" weapon appearances thanks to its living, almost breathing model.
The axe was added to World of Warcraft in the Battle for Azeroth expansion (patch 8.3, the final raid against N'Zoth). The item itself is level 67 and useless by its stats in the current expansion — players farm it solely for the transmog appearance.
The appearance suits any class that can wield two-handed axes: warriors, paladins, death knights, demon hunters, and shamans.
Source
The axe drops in the Ny'alotha, the Waking City raid — the final raid of Battle for Azeroth.
- The item drops from the boss Maut, the second boss of the raid.
- The drop chance is around 9.6% — a fairly high rate for a raid weapon appearance.
- The axe drops on all raid difficulties (Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, Mythic), so there is no need to attempt a higher difficulty.
- The raid is legacy content and can be soloed on almost any class and level — Maut has no mechanics that block a solo clear.
- The limit is one attempt per difficulty per week per character, so to speed up farming it makes sense to clear the boss across several difficulties at once.
Who It Suits Visually
- It fits perfectly into Old God and corruption-themed sets — for example, Ny'alotha armor in a purple-teal palette.
- It harmonizes with appearances featuring tentacles, eyes, and "living" elements — great for warlock, death knight, and demon hunter looks.
- It contrasts with bright "holy" paladin sets — a debatable but striking choice.
- It pairs well with dark teal weapon enchants that enhance the model's glow.
Tips
The fastest farming method is to enter the raid once a week on multiple difficulties, increasing the number of attempts.
You can enter the raid through the Raid Finder system or directly from the Ny'alotha entrance in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
Maut is the second boss and is quick to reach, so a dedicated "run" for the axe takes only a few minutes.
Classes with high mobility and self-healing make the clear easier, but at this level the boss poses no real threat to nearly anyone.
The appearance is bound to your warband collection: once obtained, you unlock it for all characters on the account.
With a chance of around 9.6%, the drop may come on the first attempt or take several weeks — the raid is worth farming regularly.
