Slayer of the Lifeless — Transmog Set Guide

Slayer of the Lifeless is an epic one-handed sword from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.0.2). It is a short blade with a massive cross-shaped hilt and a dark steel edge styled in the distinctive look of the Scourge. The slot is one hand, and it suits any class that can wield swords.

The item's main value lies not in its stats but in its lore. The name and the flavor text "Just as Salzman foretold" are a direct reference to the South Park episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft," in which a griefer who "has no life" is countered with the legendary "Sword of a Thousand Truths." Hence the "slayer of all that is lifeless." For collectors with a sense of humor, this is one of the most recognizable Easter-egg items in the game.

The item level is low and the requirement is level 30, so in the modern game the sword is interesting purely as a transmog.

The sword drops in the Naxxramas raid — the Scourge's flying necropolis above Dragonblight. This is the Wrath of the Lich King version of the raid (10 players), not the original 40-player raid.

Two drop sources:

• Gluth — the third boss of the Construct Quarter, a giant undead abomination. The sword's drop chance from him is low, but the farm is possible every week.
• Gothik the Harvester — a boss of the Death Knight Quarter. A second source of the same sword, which doubles your chances per raid run.

Farming notes:

• Today Naxxramas can be soloed at max level by virtually any class — the bosses die in seconds.
• The raid resets once a week, so in a single run you can check both loot sources.
• The item is not soulbound on drop until you pick it up, so you can farm the sword on alts and add the transmog to your account-wide collection.

• It harmonizes with the dark sets of the Scourge and death knights — for example, the plate sets from Naxxramas.
• It suits grim looks in a black-and-steel palette for warriors, paladins, and death knights.
• It contrasts with light cloth and leather sets — an unusual but eye-catching accent for dual-wield looks.
• It pairs well with a dark-themed shield for a "Scourge tank" look.
