Soul Eater — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Soul Eater is an epic one-handed dagger from the Warlords of Draenor expansion. It is one of the weapon reward appearances for Challenge Mode — a separate appearance set that had no combat stats and existed purely as an illusion for transmogrification. The item is added to your collection through a "Use" effect, after which the appearance stays bound to your account.
The blade follows the overall style of the Draenor challenge set: a dark, curved blade profile with a cold purple-blue glow along the edge and a carved hilt. The same artistic line ties it to its paired dagger
Sunblade — both belong to the same set and are often worn together as a matched pair on a rogue or demon hunter.
The dagger is available to any class that can wield daggers: rogue, druid, mage, warlock, priest, shaman, demon hunter and monk. Since it is a pure transmog item, its stats (damage, speed) are irrelevant — only the silhouette of the model matters.
Source
Soul Eater is awarded for earning Challenge Warlord: Gold. To obtain it, you had to clear all eight Warlords of Draenor dungeons in Challenge Mode with a gold rating — that is, beat the strictest time limit in each one.
After completing the achievement, the dagger and the rest of the set's models could be bought for gold from the challenge masters:
- For the Alliance — Challenger Savina in the capital Stormshield on Ashran Island.
- For the Horde — Challenger Sunforge in the capital Warspear on Ashran Island.
Both vendors stand next to other reward merchants of their factions. The price of a single dagger is 1,000 gold, and only the character who completed the achievement can buy it. If you plan to collect the entire "gold" weapon set, it is more economical to take
Arsenal: Draenor Challenger's Armaments for 10,000 gold from the same vendors — this scroll unlocks all weapon models from the Warlords of Draenor challenge set for the entire account.
Important: the item is currently unobtainable for new players. The Warlords of Draenor Challenge Mode, along with the ability to earn the "Challenge Warlord: Gold" achievement, was completely removed from the game with the release of the Legion expansion in August 2016. If the appearance was not unlocked while the expansion was active, there is no legitimate way to add it to your collection today. For those who completed the achievement before the mode was retired, the purchase right stays with the character forever, and the look can be claimed at any time.
Alternatives
Soul Eater has no color variations — the model exists in a single version. Its closest relative by silhouette is the paired dagger from the same set, and a similar aesthetic in spirit is provided by the rest of the Draenor challenge models:
| Item | Type | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Dagger | Challenge Warlord: Gold | |
| One-handed sword | Challenge Warlord: Gold | |
| One-handed mace | Challenge Warlord: Gold | |
| Fist weapon | Challenge Warlord: Gold |
All of the alternatives listed come from the same unobtainable set, so as a genuinely attainable replacement, newer daggers with a similar dark-purple glow will work — for example, weapons from the dungeons and raids of the Legion and Shadowlands expansions.
Who It Suits Visually
- Harmonizes with dark rogue and demon hunter outfits dominated by black, purple and blue colors.
- Looks great paired with its own set companion — the dagger
Sunblade: together they form a complete pair of blades. - Suits looks focused on the theme of the Fel and otherworldly energy thanks to the cold glow along the blade.
- Contrasts with light plate armor of the paladin type — a debatable combination, but it puts a bright accent on the weapon.
- Fits a "shadow assassin" concept — a compact, curved blade with no bulky decorative elements.
Tips
Check your transmogrification journal: if you played Warlords of Draenor actively and ran Challenge Mode, the model may already be unlocked — in that case it appears in the dagger appearance collection tab.
An unlocked appearance is available to all characters on the account, including those who cannot wield daggers in their main hand.
Do not confuse the item with a combat weapon: Soul Eater is a pure transmogrification illusion with no stats, so it is pointless to look for it in dungeon loot tables.
The paired dagger
Sunblade is unlocked by the same achievement — if one blade of the set is available, both usually are.
If the achievement is completed, do not buy the separate blades and swords one by one — it is more economical to take
Arsenal: Draenor Challenger's Armaments right away and unlock all weapon looks from the set in one go.
Beware of third-party offers to "boost" this transmog: the Warlords of Draenor Challenge Mode is closed, and there is no legitimate way to get the model now.
For a similar look without unobtainable content, take a look at daggers from current dungeons — models with a purple glow are regularly added in new expansions.
