Get Ethereum Nexus-Reaver
Overview

Ethereum Nexus-Reaver is an epic-quality two-handed axe and one of the most recognizable weapon appearances. Its blade is a semi-transparent energy bardiche of the ethereals: a shimmering purple-blue edge that looks woven from astral matter and set within a frame of dark metal with shards drifting along its sides.
Artistically, the axe references the Consortium faction and the ethereal race — beings of pure energy who inhabited Outland during the The Burning Crusade expansion. The glowing blade has no physical edge in the usual sense, which sets this weapon apart from ordinary steel bardiches and makes it a coveted piece of "magical" and "otherworldly" looks.
The appearance became a transmog classic precisely because of its unusual model and rich glow. For many years it has been one of the most sought-after two-handed axes for transmog, and today the easiest way to get it is at the annual World of Warcraft anniversary event.
Source
The axe drops from a world boss named Doomwalker — a version of the legendary mechanical sentinel that appears for the duration of the World of Warcraft anniversary celebration.
- The boss patrols the coast in the Tanaris zone, south of the Caverns of Time. Travel coordinates:
/way 63 59. - The drop chance for the Ethereum Nexus-Reaver is about 3.62%.
- The boss is available only during the anniversary celebration — outside the event it is not on the Tanaris coast.
- You can kill Doomwalker once per week per character, so there aren't many attempts per fighter — it pays to run the boss on alts.
- Besides the axe, the boss also drops other anniversary rewards, including the flying mount
Illidari Doomhawk.
Historically, the same appearance was obtained from the original world boss Doomwalker in the Shadowmoon Valley zone in Outland. That version of the axe is bind on equip, and it can be bought at the auction house if someone got a spare copy.
Who It Suits Visually
- Suits "magical" and otherworldly looks for a warrior or death knight, where the weapon should appear woven from energy rather than forged from steel.
- Harmonizes with sets in a purple-blue palette — for example, with Fel plate and the ethereal theme of Outland.
- Stands out against dark armor: the blade's bright glow makes it the central accent of the whole look.
- Pairs with appearances that reference the Consortium and the ethereal race, thanks to its recognizable astral model.
Tips
Track the dates of the World of Warcraft anniversary celebration — it is during this period that Doomwalker appears in Tanaris and becomes available for farming.
Hit the boss with every suitable character once per week: the more alts, the higher your total chance of getting the axe during the event.
If you don't want to wait for the celebration, check the auction house for the original version
item=30722 — it is bind on equip and is sometimes sold by other players.
During a single trip to Outland you can also farm the original Doomwalker, but he too is limited to once per week per character.
The appearance is added to your collection the moment the axe lands in your bags — you don't have to wear it.
The same anniversary boss also has a chance to drop a mount, so don't skip the weekly attempt even if you've already collected the axe.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
