Everforged Dagger — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Everforged Dagger is an epic one-handed dagger with a base item level of 593, added to World of Warcraft with the release of The War Within. It is a Khaz Algar blacksmithing crafted weapon intended for classes that wield intellect daggers: Mages, Druids, Priests, Shamans, Warlocks and Evokers.
Visually the blade is built around a strict smithing aesthetic: a squat gray-steel edge with a faint bronze undertone, a plain hilt wrap and a massive guard with no decorative excess. It is a "working" silhouette without flourish — it pairs with heavy armor sets and plate ensembles rather than festive looks.
The dagger has a twin model —
Everforged Stabber. Both blades share the exact same 3D appearance but differ in their main stat: the stabber is crafted for agility and meant for Rogues, Hunters and Enhancement Shamans, while the dagger is built for intellect spellcaster classes. For transmog collection they are two separate items even though they look identical.
Source
The Everforged Dagger is crafted by the Khaz Algar blacksmithing profession. The recipe cannot be bought or looted — it is unlocked by the profession specialization tree itself once you invest knowledge points into the right branch. As a result the appearance is available either to your own blacksmith or through a work order placed with another player.
Step 1. Learn Blacksmithing from Darean in Dornogal
The Khaz Algar blacksmithing trainer is Darean. She stands by the anvil in the Smithing Yards in the southern part of the Isle of Dorn — in Dornogal, the expansion's capital city. You can find her roughly at these coordinates:
If your Blacksmithing is already leveled from previous expansions, you still need to learn it specifically from Darean — otherwise the Khaz Algar specialization wheel will not appear.
Step 2. Level the Short Blades branch
The dagger's recipe sits in the blacksmithing specialization tree: Armament Crafting → Blades → Short Blades. To unlock it, knowledge points are invested along this route:
- Level the Armament Crafting core specialization up to the node where it branches into weapon types.
- Invest 10 points into the Blades sub-node — this opens access to its child branches.
- Invest 15 points into the Short Blades sub-branch.
- The Everforged Dagger recipe unlocks on this branch automatically — there is no separate blueprint to buy.
Blacksmithing knowledge points accumulate from weekly profession quests, completing crafting orders, gathering rare knowledge artifacts and Khaz Algar treatise stashes. Fully opening one needed branch usually takes about two to three weeks of relaxed play.
Step 3. Gather the materials
A single crafting attempt for the dagger uses the following set of reagents:
| Reagent | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Weekly quest chain, character-bound | |
| 1 | Skinning rare Khaz Algar beasts, auction house | |
| 1 | Khaz Algar leatherworking, auction house | |
| 6 | Khaz Algar blacksmithing, auction house | |
| 8 | Khaz Algar blacksmithing, auction house |
The extra "Optional Reagents" slot accepts enhancers: a concentration stone locks in secondary stats, an emblem of mastery raises the finished item to the top tier, and embellishments add a special combat effect. For pure transmog these enhancers are not required, but they turn the craft into a fully functional combat weapon.
The Spark of Omens limitation
The main bottleneck is the
Spark of Omens. This reagent is character-bound and cannot be traded on the auction house. Each week you receive only one
Fractured Spark of Omens, and a full Spark is assembled from two fragments. As a result your own blacksmith can craft the dagger at best once every two weeks.
If you have no Spark of your own, the crafting order system helps out: the customer provides their own Spark and materials, and the crafter simply completes the craft for a fee. This way you can obtain the appearance in a single run without waiting to stockpile fragments.
Alternatives and recolors
The Everforged Dagger belongs to a single family of epic crafted blacksmithing weapons from The War Within season one. All these items share a common finish, so an appearance collector should take a look at the rest of the line's blades:
| Item | Source | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Blacksmithing, Short Blades branch | Same appearance, but the agility version | |
| Blacksmithing, Long Blades branch | One-handed sword from the same series | |
| Blacksmithing, armament branch | One-handed mace in the shared style | |
| Blacksmithing, armament branch | Two-handed axe of the series | |
| Blacksmithing, armor branch | Shield from the same set |
The dagger itself has no separate color recolor — the model exists in a single variant. Its closest "double" in appearance is precisely the Everforged Stabber: if you collect both, you will have to craft two different items despite the identical look.
Who it suits visually
- Sits well in plate and mail sets of a restrained gray-steel palette — the dagger does not clash with heavy armor, it complements it.
- Harmonizes with dark gray and silver sets without bright gold: it adds a grounded feel instead of ceremonial shine.
- Looks logical in "weaponsmith," "mercenary" and "artisan" concepts — for blacksmith, veteran-soldier or grim wanderer looks.
- Works as a contrast against the bright cloth robes of Mages and Priests: the plain steel blade highlights the rich fabric through opposition.
- Builds into a single set with the rest of the line's weapons — the shield, mace and axe of the same series give a complete "everforged" gear look made entirely by one blacksmith.
Tips
Stockpile Fractured Sparks of Omens in advance. If you plan several epic crafts, do the weekly fragment quest every week — two fragments add up to a full Spark.
The fastest route to the appearance is a crafting order. If you do not have the Short Blades specialization, post a personal order with a blacksmith you know: you hand over the materials and your Spark, and they craft it for a fee.
Do not spread your knowledge points thin. For the dagger it is enough to invest 10 points into Blades and 15 into Short Blades — long blades and ranged weapons are not needed for this goal.
The Exceptional Creature Tooth is easiest to buy on the auction house. If you have Khaz Algar skinning leveled, the tooth drops from the region's rare beasts, but buying it usually saves time.
Unlock the appearance right after crafting. Even if you wear a stronger weapon, equip the dagger for a second — the model lands in your wardrobe and the appearance can then be applied to any future dagger.
Use a concentration stone matched to your specialization. For a Fire Mage take an enhancement toward Critical Strike and Versatility, for a Restoration Shaman toward Haste and Mastery: this way the transmog craft also becomes a working weapon.
Do not forget the emblem of mastery. The final Khaz Algar emblem of mastery raises the finished dagger to the season's top tier — without it the item stays at the lower level and quickly becomes outdated as a combat weapon.
The twin stabber is crafted from the same materials. If you want both appearances in your collection, plan for a double stock of reagents and two Sparks — the items look no different but count separately in the wardrobe.
