Get Fool's Bane
Overview

Fool's Bane is an epic one-handed mace from The Burning Crusade expansion. Even though it is classified as a blunt weapon, the item has a compact, blade-like silhouette with a short handle and an angular pommel, so in transmog the mace looks more like a heavy cleaver or a short butcher's blade. The icon and model are kept in cold steel tones with a dark grip wrap.
The weapon suits any class that uses one-handed maces: warriors, paladins, shamans, druids, and priests. Its item level is 38, so its stats have long been irrelevant, and today players take it purely for the look.
Source
Fool's Bane drops from Terestian Illhoof, one of the bosses in the Karazhan raid. The raid is located in Deadwind Pass, south of Sleeping Gorge.
- The mace's drop chance is around 16%, one of the highest among Terestian's cosmetic loot.
- Terestian Illhoof is a demonologist warlock who summons the imp Kil'rek and a portal of imps; for a solo player the fight poses no challenge.
- Karazhan is a 10-player raid, but at the current max level it is easily soloed by any class.
- There is no loot lock: you can return to the boss every week after the raid resets until the item you need drops.
To reach the entrance, head to Deadwind Pass (Eastern Kingdoms) and find the massive tower in the eastern part of the zone. The raid entrance coordinates:
Who It Suits Visually
- It harmonizes with dark leather and mail sets in steel and gray palettes thanks to the cold sheen of the metal.
- It fits rogue, mercenary, or city guard looks — the compact blade reads as a practical working weapon rather than a ceremonial mace.
- It contrasts with massive gilded plate: against that backdrop the short dark blade looks deliberately modest, which can be an intentional accent.
- It pairs well with a matching one-handed weapon of similar size for a dual-blade fighter look.
Tips
Enter Karazhan solo at max level — the whole raid is cleared in 15-20 minutes, and you can reach Terestian directly through the library.
A roughly 16% chance means the mace drops on average within 5-7 runs; plan weekly visits until the reset.
On a single trip to Terestian, check the rest of his loot too: this boss drops several cosmetic items, so the run is rarely empty.
A paladin and a guardian druid clear the raid especially quickly thanks to high survivability and mobility.
If you need the look urgently, team up with a friend: together you can clear bosses even faster, and the chance for the item you need stacks across two characters.
Remember that once the appearance is learned, the mace becomes available to all characters on the account through the appearance collection.
