Get Brown Kodo mount
Overview

Brown Kodo is one of the three racial ground mounts of the Tauren, added back in the original version of World of Warcraft. It is a large beast of burden with a distinctive brown hide, massive horns, and an unhurried gait — the calling card of Mulgore's inhabitants. It is added to your collection permanently and immediately becomes available to all Horde characters on your account — making it a convenient target for collectors completing their racial lineups.
Why You Want This Mount
- Classic Tauren collection — together with the
Gray Kodo and the
White Kodo, it completes the trio of basic racial mounts of Mulgore - Required for collecting achievements — each unique mount counts toward achievement progress and unlocks access to rewards for total count
- Cheap and fast — for Tauren the mount costs about 1 gold, with no quest chains or lengthy farming
- Account-bound — once purchased, the kodo appears in the collection of any Horde character, including Tauren and non-Tauren alts
Where to Buy the Brown Kodo
The mount is sold by Harb Clawhoof — a riding-animal vendor in Bloodhoof Village in the Mulgore zone.

Nearby on the village square stand other specialized sellers: the riding trainer and a class trainer. The spot is easy to recognize — right by the road that runs through the center of Bloodhoof Village.
Step-by-Step Acquisition Guide
For Tauren
- Fly to Thunder Bluff or use a Hearthstone if your bind point is already set in the Tauren capital
- Descend on one of the lifts on the southwestern or northeastern side of the city
- Head south along the road through Mulgore — to Bloodhoof Village. The distance is short, about a minute on any mount
- Find Harb Clawhoof on the village square, coordinates
47.6 58.0 - Open the trade menu and buy the
Brown Kodo for 1 gold - Click the item in your inventory — the mount will be added to your collection and unlocked across your entire account
For Non-Tauren Horde
- Reach Thunder Bluff via the portal in Orgrimmar or by any other means
- Raise your reputation with the Thunder Bluff faction to the Exalted standing — without it Harb Clawhoof will not open trade with you
- After reaching Exalted, descend into Mulgore and make your way to Bloodhoof Village
- Buy the mount from Harb Clawhoof for 1 gold
How to Quickly Reach Exalted with Thunder Bluff
This step is only needed for characters of other Horde races. Tauren do not need the reputation — they are Exalted by default.
Tabard and Old Dungeons
The most reliable method is the
Thunder Bluff Tabard. It is sold by Quartermaster Brave Tuho in Thunder Bluff for 1 gold.
- Equip the tabard
- Enter any dungeons up to and including Wrath of the Lich King, via the dungeon finder or directly
- Each mob killed in a dungeon grants reputation with Thunder Bluff while the tabard is worn
- The fastest options are heroic Burning Crusade dungeons. A single run yields roughly 2,500-3,000 reputation points
- Keep in mind the limit of 10 instances per hour and 30 per day — if you farm low-level dungeons, you will hit the cap fairly quickly
Quests in Mulgore
If the character is low-level, the fastest reputation base is a full clear of Mulgore quests and neighboring zones. The classic Tauren starting quests and general Horde tasks in this zone grant reputation directly with Thunder Bluff and often close out the stages up to Revered and beyond without extra effort.
Tips and Nuances
- Reputation discount — all city factions of the Alliance and Horde apply a discount on goods at Exalted. The base price of 1 gold drops insignificantly, but on the epic versions of the kodo (Great Brown, Great Gray, Great White) the discount is more noticeable — around 2 gold
- Buy on a single character — since the mount is account-wide, do not waste gold buying it on a second Tauren. Buy the Brown Kodo once and it will appear in the collection of all your Horde characters
- Close out the whole trio at once — since you are already at the vendor, it makes sense to buy the
Gray Kodo and the
White Kodo in one trip. That's three different mounts for your collection for 3 gold - Portal to Thunder Bluff — in Orgrimmar, the portal to the Tauren capital is located in the Hall of Legions. If you are playing a recent character via express leveling, remember that the capital opens after completing a few introductory quests
