Overview

Everlasting Boneforged Greataxe

Game iconEverlasting Boneforged Greataxe is a two-handed battle axe added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion. Visually it is a massive blade of fused bone shot through with dark crimson veins, mounted on a long haft wrapped in sinew. The weapon model is familiar to raid veterans: it is a recolor of the legendary axe Game iconBryntroll, the Bone Arbiter, which dropped in Icecrown Citadel back in the days of Wrath of the Lich King.

The new version is rendered in a colder, bonier palette with a faint greenish sheen of Maldraxxus anima, tying it to the aesthetic of House of the Chosen. The axe reads well at a distance thanks to its distinctive serrated silhouette, which is why players are eager to use it for necromancer and death knight looks.

Source

The Everlasting Boneforged Greataxe lies inside the Blackhound Cache chest in the north of the Maldraxxus zone.

/way #1536 44.1 40 Тайник заставы Черного Пса

The main feature of this source is that access to the chest does not open solo, but through a shared zone event:

  • Players of the Necrolord covenant turn in Bundles of Anima via a repeatable quest at the battle skeleton Bonegrinder in Maldraxxus.
  • Once a combined total of 100 bundles has been turned in, a War Spirit is summoned and begins moving toward the Blackhound outpost in the north of the zone.
  • Players escort and protect the spirit along the way. If it arrives alive, it breaks down the outpost gates.
  • After the gates are broken, any character can go inside and search the cache, not just a Necrolord.

The axe is not a guaranteed drop from the chest: the cache gives a random item from its loot table, so the axe may not drop from a single opened door. The chest is available for a limited time after the gates are breached, so there are usually many people after it — keep an eye on zone chat and the map markers.

Who it suits visually

  • It harmonizes with the bone and necromancer sets of House of the Chosen from Maldraxxus thanks to the shared bone texture.
  • It suits death knights for looks in the green-gray anima palette — the blade echoes the color scheme of the Necrolord covenant.
  • It contrasts with light plate armor, creating a grim accent for a "dark paladin" or renegade warrior.
  • It looks great paired with cloaks and shoulders bearing bone spikes, continuing the serrated silhouette of the weapon.

Tips

1

The most reliable path to this axe is to play the Necrolord covenant and turn in Bundles of Anima yourself to bring the summoning of the War Spirit closer.

2

If you are not a Necrolord, track the event's progress in Maldraxxus zone chat: the moment the spirit is already on its way is your cue to fly to the outpost in the north.

3

Keep a mount ready: after the gates break, the window to search the cache is short, and latecomers are left without loot.

4

The axe does not drop from the chest every time, so plan for several runs across different event cycles.

5

If you are pressed for time, do not fixate on this version: the original Bryntroll from Icecrown Citadel can be farmed solo and gives a practically identical model.

6

The appearance is bound to your transmogrification collection right after you receive the item, so a single lucky drop per account is enough.
