Overview

Палка-раскопалка

Game iconExcavating Cudgel is a one-handed mace added to the game in the Midnight expansion. The weapon is built in an earthy, "field" style: a worn wooden handle, roughly wrapped in leather straps, topped with a massive stone head. Visually, it evokes the gear of excavators and relic hunters — the kind of characters who operate within Windrunner Spire in search of artifacts.

The item is made for caster classes: it carries Intellect and Stamina. It can be used by paladins, druids, priests, shamans, monks, and evokers.

Source

The mace drops from the "Kalis" boss encounter in the Windrunner Spire dungeon. This fight is the second in the dungeon: first, players face Kalis, a fanatical banshee of Sylvanas, and her loyal Latch. Both bosses must die at the same time.

Available difficulty levels:

  • Normal and Heroic modes.
  • Mythic+ mode (part of the Midnight Season 1 pool).

The drop is tied to a weekly lockout on Normal and Heroic. In Mythic+ there is no limit on attempts.

How to reach Windrunner Spire:

The dungeon entrance is located in the Eversong Woods zone in the Eastern Kingdoms.

/way Eversong Woods 35.2, 78.4 Windrunner Spire

Access opens at level 81 or after completing the introductory quest "Windrunner Spire: Troubling Melodies."

Visual fit

  • Expedition and ruins theme. The weapon fits well with the looks of explorers and prospectors: it pairs with earth-toned leather armor — brown, gray, beige.
  • Caster in field gear. It suits cloth and leather sets that mimic "working" attire without excessive pomp — for example, Draenor- or Pandaria-style transmogs.
  • Contrast with ornate sets. The rough stone head creates a deliberate contrast with elegant trailing and ornamental chestpieces — for players who prefer an asymmetric look.
  • Neutral color scheme. The gray-brown palette lets the mace blend with most color combinations without clashing with the armor.

Tips

1

The most convenient way to obtain the transmog is to run the dungeon in Mythic+ mode: there is no weekly lockout, and you can make an unlimited number of attempts in a single session.

2

The "Kalis and Latch" boss is the second along the route. Before it, you only need to clear the first boss (Emberon), which takes 10–15 minutes at a standard group pace.

3

Both characters in the encounter must die at the same time: if one of them loses health much faster than the other, you will have to hold back damage. Plan your DPS distribution in advance.

4

The mace drops only for characters who can equip it. Make sure your character has an item of the right slot equipped and that the "One-Handed Weapon" type is allowed for your class and specialization.

5

In Mythic+ modes, the item level in the loot depends on the key level: the higher the key, the higher the gear level — however, for transmog the specific item level does not matter.
