Overview

Executioner's Cleaver

Game iconExecutioner's Cleaver is a two-handed axe of rare quality that has existed in World of Warcraft since the classic era. It is a wide, single-edged cleaver blade on a long haft: a crude, heavy model in the spirit of a butcher's or executioner's weapon, with no magical effects or glow.

The item is of rare (blue) quality, item level 13, and binds when equipped. This is an important detail: until you equip the axe, it remains unbound and can be traded, sold, and bought. It also grants strength and a little haste, but for transmog only the appearance matters.

Its crude silhouette and broad blade make the Executioner's Cleaver a great choice for brutal looks, where the weapon should appear menacing rather than elegant.

Source

The Executioner's Cleaver is a world drop item: it does not drop from one specific boss, but from a large number of ordinary mid-level mobs all across Azeroth. Because of this, there is no guaranteed farming spot, but there is also no tie to a specific dungeon or raid.

  • The axe binds when equipped, so it is freely sold and bought on the auction house.
  • The fastest way to get the appearance is to look for the axe on your faction's auction house rather than farming mobs by hand.
  • If you prefer to farm, kill ordinary mobs of the appropriate level in mid-range zones — the drop chance from each mob is low, but there are very many sources.
  • There are no limits on quantity: you can obtain and resell the item as many times as you like.
  • No reputation, event currency, or quest chain is required to obtain it.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It pairs well with heavy plate armor in dark and blood-red tones — executioner, butcher, or barbarian looks.
  • It fits the "ruthless warrior" concept without any magical flair — the weapon looks like a real combat tool.
  • It looks great on a warrior or death knight who emphasize raw physical strength.
  • It combines with closed helmets and masks — reinforcing the image of a faceless executioner.
  • It contrasts with bright, gilded armor — a debatable but memorable "dirty" accent in a clean look.

Tips

1

Before a long farm, check the auction house: the axe only binds when equipped, and it is often easier to buy than to farm.

2

If you farm it yourself, choose zones with dense clusters of ordinary mid-level mobs — more kills per minute means more chances at a drop.

3

On a high-level character mobs die instantly, so farming the appearance goes quickly despite the low chance from each enemy.

4

Once you get the axe, add the appearance to your wardrobe right away — after that you no longer need to wear the item itself.

5

When buying on the auction house, do not overpay: a world drop item appears for sale regularly, so you can wait for a good lot.

6

A single copy unlocks the appearance permanently; you do not need a second one for the collection.
