Get Eye of Purification

Eye of Purification is an epic one-handed axe that originates from the Firelands raid in the Cataclysm expansion. This curved blade with a glowing orange-gold "eye" set into the pommel and smoldering veins running along the edge is the instantly recognizable fiery Firelands weapon model, rendered in a warm, white-hot palette.

The axe carries intellect and was meant for spellcasters, but for transmog its stats are irrelevant — the appearance is available to anyone who can wield one-handed axes. The fire motif makes it a handy "accent" weapon for looks built around flame, the Legion's Fel theme, or fire elementals.

The classic version of the axe, Eye of Purification from patch 4.2, shares the same appearance — it is one and the same model, simply re-released with later stats.

Eye of Purification drops in the Firelands raid. The source type is a boss drop, and this fiery weapon model appears in the loot of several bosses at once rather than just one.

• Among the bosses that drop a weapon with this model are Beth'tilac, Baleroc, Lord Rhyolith, and Majordomo Staghelm.
• The raid's final boss is Ragnaros; clearing the entire raid gives you the most attempts at securing the appearance you want per run.
• The item becomes soulbound on pickup, so you have to collect it for the appearance on the very character who enters the raid.
• The raid resets once a week, so with bad luck the farm can stretch over several weeks — but nothing stops you from going in every week.

The raid sits behind a portal from Mount Hyjal. This is Cataclysm content, long outdated in terms of power, so you should only go there for the appearance — the gear from there is of no use at the current level.

• It fits sets with a fire theme — for example, the Firelands sets and other gear in a white-hot orange-red palette.
• It harmonizes with fire-spellcaster looks: the burning "eye" of the pommel echoes the fire effects of mages and elemental shamans.
• It looks great paired with dark armor of a demonic or "fel" theme — the axe's warm flame sharply contrasts with purple-black tones.
• A contrasting choice for bright paladin sets: the fiery accent enlivens the gold and silver of the armor.
