Overview

Fallen Warlord's Mindcarver

Game iconFallen Warlord's Mindcarver is an epic one-handed caster dagger from the Warlords of Draenor expansion (patch 6.2.0, the Hellfire Citadel raid). A slim curved blade with a dark hilt and a greenish demonic glow — an instantly recognizable "hellfire" model designed around the color palette of the entire raid.

The item occupies the main-hand slot and comes with caster stats: intellect, stamina, critical strike, and haste. It suits mages, warlocks, priests, shamans, druids, and evokers. The item level is 53, and it requires character level 40. It becomes soulbound on pickup.

Among collectors, the dagger is prized for its "infernal" aesthetic: the model pairs nicely with the dark leggings of tier 18 and with the green-and-black shoulders of the Warlords of Draenor seasons. It is one of the few daggers in the game with an openly "demonic" blade glow.

Source

The dagger drops from Kilrogg Deadeye — the third boss in the "Halls of Blood" wing of the Hellfire Citadel raid. Kilrogg himself is one of the orc warlords of Draenor who gave himself over to the power of the Fel and turned into one of the "fallen warlords," which is exactly where the dagger gets its name.

Drop parameters:

  • Chance from the kill — around 12% per character per week.
  • Available on all difficulties: Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, Mythic.
  • On Mythic difficulty an upgraded variant is possible, while Raid Finder offers a simplified version with reduced stats. The transmog appearance is identical across all difficulties.
  • Limit — once per week per character on each difficulty. You can farm in parallel across several difficulties to raise your weekly chances.
  • Hellfire Citadel bosses support "loot trading" with other players in the same raid group, provided the item suits both.

For solo farming you will need a character of level 50 or higher. At that level the raid is cleared without any trouble by any class. It is best to bring a character with high mobility — a Guardian druid, Brewmaster monk, or Protection paladin — to quickly travel from boss to boss through the raid's long corridors.

Kilrogg is located relatively close to the entrance: after clearing the first wing of the raid you reach the "Halls of Blood." In this wing, before Kilrogg there is a fight with the Hellfire Council, and Kilrogg himself comes right after.

Who it suits visually

  • Dark tier 18 caster sets (Warlords of Draenor), especially the warlock set with its green-and-black palette.
  • Outfits with a Fel accent: green-and-black robes, cultist garbs, cloaks with a green glow.
  • Demon cultist and metamorphosis warlock looks from the Outland and Draenor zones.
  • Pairs with the Game iconRuinous Gutripper in a "dagger + off-hand weapon" set, if your class is allowed such a combination.
  • Looks great against light clothing as a contrasting accent — for example, with a priest's white robes or a mage's silvery robes.

Tips

1

Solo clearability of the raid is maximally friendly on characters level 50+ — all bosses are killed in one or two hits and mechanics are ignored.

2

A single run on one difficulty grants one drop attempt per week. To speed up the farm, visit Kilrogg on each difficulty separately — that's four attempts per week.

3

Before the fight, make sure the group or raid has "Personal Loot" mode enabled — on old raids this has been the default since patch 8.0.

4

If you are collecting tier 18 caster sets at the same time, it is convenient to clear the whole raid in one go — loot from all bosses also rolls into transmog.

5

The dagger has intellect stats, so when farming for a rogue or hunter it will only be useful as a transmog source: the appearance is saved in the collection, but you cannot wear it in regular agility slots.

6

On Raid Finder and Normal difficulties, entry into the raid is automatic through the "Group Finder" interface (the "I" key). Heroic and Mythic require manually forming a group or searching via "Premade Groups."

7

Hellfire Citadel has internal portals between wings that open after the first visit. Use them to return straight to the "Halls of Blood" to reach Kilrogg.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
