Fang of Kalecgos is a one-handed dagger of epic quality, added to World of Warcraft with patch 2.4.0 of The Burning Crusade expansion. It is a compact, curved blade with a dark hilt and a narrow, polished strip of edge accented with gilded patterns along the spine. The silhouette is clean and predatory — hence the name "fang."

The name refers to the blue dragon Kalecgos, one of the raid's first opponents. The dagger is symbolically "torn" from the dragon, which is exactly what its understated draconic aesthetic plays on. The dark-gold palette makes the blade stand out against the "fiery" weapons of the Sunwell Plateau typical of The Burning Crusade era.

Fang of Kalecgos drops in the Sunwell Plateau raid — the final raid of The Burning Crusade expansion. The dagger has two sources, and both are found in the very first fight of the raid:

• Kalecgos — a blue dragon who fell under corruption.
• Sathrovarr the Corruptor — a demon spreading corruption upon the dragon.

This is a single linked fight: both opponents are part of the raid's first encounter, so there is no need to look for them separately. The dagger can drop from either of them.

Key details on farming:

• The raid is many expansions out of date and is usually cleared solo on a modern character. The enemies inside are scaled to The Burning Crusade era level and are killed in mere seconds.
• The chance for the dagger to drop from a single fight is low, so plan on a series of runs.
• The item binds when picked up, and it cannot be passed to another character.
• The first fight is right at the raid entrance — there is no need to travel to the far halls for this transmog.
• The fight is built around a "spectral realm" mechanic: some attackers periodically move into a separate plane where they deal damage to Sathrovarr the Corruptor while the rest hit the dragon. Solo, this means you will be teleported into the spectral plane regularly, and Sathrovarr will have to be finished off there.

How to reach the raid

No separate attunement is required to enter the Sunwell Plateau in the modern game. The route is simple:

• Use a portal in your capital city to travel to Shattrath.
• In Shattrath, find the portal to the Isle of Quel'Danas — it is located in the Shattrath Sanctuary.
• On the island, move southwest from the arrival point: the raid entrance is on a slope at the foot of the plateau, and it is hard to miss.

Fang of Kalecgos has no direct color recolors with the same name, but the Sunwell Plateau drops several daggers of a similar era and aesthetic — all of them can be farmed in the same raid in a single run:

Separately worth mentioning is the Replica Fang of Kalecgos — an interactive object that appears in special seasonal events. This is not a weapon for transmogrification but a cosmetic object: when used, it dresses the character in Kalecgos's appearance. If you are interested in the draconic theme itself rather than the dagger, take note of it too.

• It suits dark armor sets with gold trim — the dagger does not clash with the gilded accents of the armor but supports them.
• It harmonizes with the gear of the Sunwell Plateau raid sets thanks to the shared color palette of The Burning Crusade era.
