Get Fang of the Mystics

Fang of the Mystics is an epic one-handed dagger for casters that drops from the world boss Azuregos. This is the anniversary version of the classic dagger, added to World of Warcraft in the Legion expansion (patch 7.2.5) alongside the return of the old world bosses.

Visually it is a short curved blade with a cold blue-steel palette and a distinctive bluish sheen along the edge. The model nods to the blue dragon Azuregos and his icy theme, so the dagger looks great in sets built around arcane and frost magic.

The dagger binds when picked up and scales to the character's level at the moment of looting, so its combat stats are irrelevant — for a modern player it is a purely cosmetic trophy. The item's value lies entirely in its appearance: it shows up only during the Anniversary and is unavailable for the rest of the year.

Fang of the Mystics drops from Azuregos — a neutral blue dragon who patrols the southern coast of Ashenvale. The boss returns to the game every year for the duration of the World of Warcraft Anniversary.

• Location: Ashenvale, southern coast, approximate coordinates /way 48.8 84.3.
• The boss scales with level: you can engage starting at level 15.
• Azuregos is neutral until attacked — you can walk right up to him without a fight.
• Loot is available once per day per character — the loot lock resets daily.
• Killing him as part of the "The Originals" quest grants Timewarped Badges, so it is worth picking up the quest in advance.

The drop chance for the dagger specifically is around 8-9%. Azuregos's loot table is split among all participants, so every player opens their own personal loot chest. Since Azuregos is an open-world world boss, you can easily take him down with a large random crowd; a full organized group is not required.

Outside the Anniversary the boss disappears from the game. If the event is currently inactive, all you can do is wait for the next annual Anniversary — there are no other sources for this version of the dagger.
