Get Fury of the Stonemother

Fury of the Stonemother is a one-handed crushing hammer for shamans that the game automatically places in the off hand when you equip the Doomhammer artifact. It is the paired weapon of the Enhancement specialization, added in Legion. In silhouette the hammer looks like a smaller version of the legendary artifact: a short haft, a massive faceted head, and dark metal with smoldering veins.

The flavor text names the source of its power outright: "This hammer was forged by the power of the Doomhammer and the shaman who wields it." The weapon's name refers to Therazane, the Stonemother — the ruler of earth from Deepholm.

Since Shadowlands, after the rules for transmogrifying artifacts were eased, the appearance became available to the entire class: it can be set in the main hand, the off hand, or on both paired weapons at once. That makes the hammer useful to any shaman, not just the Enhancement specialization.

The appearance cannot be bought or farmed from a mob — you obtain it together with the Enhancement artifact through the Legion class chain.

• Take up the Enhancement shaman class chain and reach the quest Where the Hammer Falls.
• In the storyline Thrall and the shaman Mylra carry you on the gryphon Stormbeak to Deepholm, where the Doomhammer is sealed in stone.
• You free the weapon with the power of the elements and wrest it from a demon, after which Therazane blesses the hammer.
• The moment you receive the Doomhammer artifact, the Fury of the Stonemother item appears automatically in the off hand — there is no need to farm it separately.
• The chain is completed once per character and takes about 10-15 minutes at a low level.

The Doomhammer set has several appearance families, and each one recolors Fury of the Stonemother as well. These tints have no separate item pages — they unlock through the artifact system:

• Base family — the artifact's original colors, unlocked as you level up Artifact Knowledge.
• Class hall appearance — granted for research and resources of the Earthen Ring.
• Valorous family — a reward for the additional artifact quest chain in Legion.
• War-torn family — unlocked through rated PvP in the Legion seasons.
• The hidden "Hope of the Zandalari" appearance — it is unlocked by The Warmace of Shirvallah, which drops from Legion world bosses.

The appearance for the Legion class challenge is no longer granted — it was removed with the release of Battle for Azeroth.

• Ideal for a Legion-era Enhancement shaman look: the hammer mirrors the lines of the Doomhammer artifact and forms a single duo with it.
• The dark metal with smoldering veins pairs well with plate armor in earthy and crimson-orange tones — for example, with the Legion shaman tier sets.
• The ability to wield two identical hammers brings to life "twin thunderbringer" concepts for specializations with paired weapons.
• Thanks to its compact head, the hammer does not overload the silhouette and looks good in ensembles where the focus is on armor or totems.
• The appearance is limited to the shaman class and reinforces shaman looks specifically — it is unavailable to other classes.
