Get Alabaster Stormtalon mount

Alabaster Stormtalon is a flying Alliance mount, hand-carved by the stonemasons of Stormwind in the shape of a stone gryphon. The mount was released to celebrate the 15th anniversary of World of Warcraft in 2019 (patch 8.2.0) and symbolizes the unshakable courage of the Alliance. The Horde counterpart is the Alabaster Thunderwing, a stone wyvern.

Originally, the mount shipped with the WoW 15th Anniversary Collector's Edition released in May 2019. On August 6, 2019, both alabaster mounts appeared in the Battle.net Shop as a separate bundle, and on April 17, 2023 they were removed from it. Since August 2023, the Alabaster Stormtalon periodically returns to the Trading Post and is available for 650 Trader's Tender.

• Unique stone gryphon model — unlike the standard golden and white gryphons of Stormwind, this mount is carved entirely from alabaster and looks like a sculpture come to life. There are no similar models in the game.
• Dual purpose — the mount works as both a ground and a flying mount, automatically adjusting its speed to your riding skill.
• Maximum speed — +60% or +100% on the ground and +150%, +280% or +310% in flight, depending on whether you have Apprentice, Expert or Master riding.
• Account-wide — once purchased, the mount becomes available to all Alliance characters on your account, regardless of class.
• Historical value — this is an item tied to the WoW 15th anniversary event, which makes it a collector's marker for veteran players.
• Relatively affordable price — 650 Trader's Tender can be saved up in one or two months of active play if you fully complete the Traveler's Log.

At the moment, the only legitimate way to acquire the Alabaster Stormtalon is to wait for it to appear in the monthly rotation of the Trading Post and buy it for 650 Trader's Tender.

1. Open the Trading Post: Alliance characters find it near the Mage Quarter in Stormwind City, Horde characters — next to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar
2. Check the current month's rotation. The rotation updates on the 1st day of each month and appears in-game with a delay over the following days
3. If the mount is in the rotation — buy it for 650 Trader's Tender. Remember that the Alabaster Stormtalon can only be purchased by Alliance characters. Horde characters need the Alabaster Thunderwing
4. If the mount is not in the rotation — use the "Freeze" feature to freeze an item from the current month until the next rotation
5. Wait for the mount to return: rare anniversary items usually appear once every 3-6 months

Each month you can earn up to 1,000 Trader's Tender per account. This amount is enough to buy the Alabaster Stormtalon with some to spare, plus one more small reward.

Filling the Traveler's Log

The Traveler's Log opens through the Adventure Guide (Shift-J), the "Traveler's Log" tab. Each month the log offers 20-30 activities of varying difficulty.

1. Open the Adventure Guide and go to the log tab
2. Focus on easy or medium difficulty tasks: use an emote on an NPC, kill a rare creature, collect certain items
3. Check long-term tasks: "Defeat 50 players in a battleground", "Complete 10 daily quests" — these are best closed out gradually
4. Track the progress bar: every 20% = 100 tender. Reach at least 100%
5. Unused tender carries over to the next month — save it up if your favorite mount hasn't appeared yet

At present, there are no other ways to obtain the Alabaster Stormtalon.

• WoW 15th Anniversary Collector's Edition — if you still have the physical 2019 box with the activation code, the mount can be claimed through the code. However, codes are no longer for sale, and the boxes are only found among collectors
• Battle.net Shop — the bundle of the two alabaster mounts was removed on April 17, 2023 and is no longer sold, neither for real money nor for Blizzard Balance
• Trading platforms and auction house — the mount is not an item that can be traded or listed on the auction house, so buying it from another player is impossible

The only relevant path is waiting for the item to return to the Trading Post. Based on the rotation statistics of 2023–2025, the mount appears roughly once every 6-8 months.
