Get Algarian Stormrider mount

Algarian Stormrider is an epic flying mount added in patch 10.1.7 of the Dragonflight expansion and tied to the pre-purchase of The War Within expansion. It is a stormrook crackling with lightning, capable of flight even in the harshest conditions. The Stormrider was the first non-dragon mount to support the Dragonriding system.

Description from the mount collection: "This lightning-charged stormrook, undaunted by even the harshest flying conditions, was trained to soar above the island of Dorn and dive into the depths beneath it".

• Unique model — the Algarian Stormrider belongs to the stormrook family. It is a large bird of prey with electric plumage, glowing eyes, and lightning effects across its body
• Compact size — unlike dragons, the Stormrider is significantly more compact. This gives a practical advantage when flying through tunnels, under bridges, and between trees
• 12 customization categories — the mount has one of the most extensive appearance customization systems among all mounts. All options are available immediately upon receiving the mount, with no manuscripts to farm
• Dragonriding support — full support for the Skyriding system with access to the "Lightning Rush" ability via the flight skill tree
• Four pets included — owners of the Epic Edition receive the Squally companion, which unlocks a quest for three additional battle pets: Flash, Gale, and Thundo

There are two ways to obtain the Algarian Stormrider:

1. Battle.net Shop — the mount is available for purchase from the Battle.net shop for 30 US dollars. The mount was added to the shop on December 16, 2025, after the exclusive pre-purchase period ended
2. The War Within pre-purchase (no longer available) — previously, the mount was included in the Heroic Edition or Epic Edition of The War Within expansion. The pre-purchase was closed on August 19, 2025

After purchase, the mount becomes available on all characters on your account starting at level 10.

The Algarian Stormrider features 12 appearance customization categories. All options are unlocked immediately upon receiving the mount — you do not need to farm manuscripts or complete quests. To change the appearance, visit a Transmogrification Rostrum located in Valdrakken (Dragon Isles) or Dornogal (Khaz Algar).

Skin Color

Blue, purple, yellow, red — four base plumage colors, each completely changing the mount's appearance.

Armor Color

Black and red, gold and blue, silver and yellow, bronze and purple — four saddle and harness color variations.

Beak

Six beak shapes: sickle, eagle, predator, raven, razor, and armored.

Bracers

No bracers or with bracers — two options.

Chestpiece

Five options: no chestpiece, simple harness, ornate harness, heavy plate, jeweled plate.

Cheeks

Four options: no adornments, tufted, bushy, wild.

Crown

Five options: no crown, straight, curled, ridged, spiked.

Helm

Three options: no helm, visor, crown.

Saddle

Three options: no saddle, light hammer, light torch.

Brow Ridges

Three options: simple, majestic, feathered horns.

Tail

Four options: simple, tufted, wild, shaggy.

Throat

Three options: no adornments, neck plate, pendant.

The Algarian Stormrider originally had a unique ability called Lightning Rush. With the release of The War Within in patch 11.0.0, this ability became available to all mounts via a choice node in the flight skill tree.

How "Lightning Rush" Works

1. While Dragonriding, fly close to walls, cliffs, and other surfaces — this accumulates static electricity charges
2. When 10 static electricity charges are reached, the ability to use "Lightning Rush" is activated
3. The ability grants a powerful 5-second speed boost with no Vigor cost, but limits maneuverability

This ability is an alternative to the "Whirling Surge" ability in the choice node of the flight skill tree. You can switch between them at any time.
