Ancestral Clefthoof

Ancestral Clefthoof is an uncommon ground mount added to World of Warcraft alongside the Trading Post system in the Dragonflight expansion. It is a massive dark-grey clefthoof with contrasting snow-white fur on its chest, mane, and tail, resembling the oldest members of its kind from Draenor. The item description reads: "This clefthoof has seen it all over its long life. Age after age, it has patiently taught its riders how to ride."

The mount is sold at the Trading Post for 650 Trader's Tender. The mount first appeared in the August 2023 rotation, and in February 2025 it returned at a discounted price of 500 Tender to celebrate the Trading Post's second anniversary. The Trading Post selection refreshes every month, so you need to watch for the clefthoof showing up in the current rotation.

• Unique coloration — the dark-charcoal body with a bright-white mane and tail makes this mount the most contrasting among all clefthoofs of the family. Unlike its Draenor cousins, the model received a fresh skin made specifically for the Trading Post.
• Maximum movement speed — the mount grants a +60% or +100% speed bonus depending on your riding skill. This is standard for all ground mounts at the current max level.
• Low entry barrier — all you need is Apprentice Riding and character level 10. No raids, dungeons, or lengthy reputations — just saving up currency.
• Account-wide availability — once purchased, the mount unlocks for every character on your account, regardless of faction and class.
• No reputation grind required — unlike the mounts of the Emerald Dream or other reputation rewards, the clefthoof is bought directly from the Trading Post vendor without any intermediate conditions.

The only way to obtain the mount is to save up 650 Trader's Tender and wait for the clefthoof to appear in the monthly Trading Post rotation.

1. Reach level 10 on any character. Current The War Within content unlocks the Trading Post automatically — just head to Orgrimmar or Stormwind
2. Find the Trading Post north of the Mage Quarter in Stormwind (Alliance) or the Trading Post near Grommash in Orgrimmar (Horde)
3. Talk to the Trading Post representative and pick up the quest Inspect the Trading Post if you haven't already — it rewards 500 Tender
4. Collect the monthly 500 Trader's Tender — they are granted automatically when you log in once a month
5. Open the Traveler's Log (a tab in the Adventure Guide) and complete monthly tasks to earn up to another 500 Tender
6. Wait for the month when Ancestral Clefthoof appears in the rotation again, and buy it from the vendor for 650 Tender

The Trading Post is a monthly-refreshed shop of cosmetic items bought with a special currency. The system is available to all subscribers and is fully account-bound.

This way, with an active subscription you are guaranteed to receive 1,000 Trader's Tender every month, which is enough to buy a single mount for 650 Tender.

The Trading Post selection rotates every month, and Blizzard does not announce the exact return dates of items in advance. The announcement is published a few days before the first of the new month.

The monthly Traveler's Log tasks are the main way to earn the missing Tender beyond the fixed 500 from the Collector's Cache.

1. Open the Adventure Guide and go to the "Traveler's Log" tab
2. Review the list of 16–18 tasks for the month. Each task gives from 25 to 75 Tender and progress points
3. Pick the easiest ones for your play style — turning in quests, running dungeons, fishing, gathering herbs, killing mobs. Most tasks are completed alongside your main activity
4. Watch the progress bar at the top — at each threshold (20, 40, 60, 80, 100%) an extra batch of Tender is awarded
5. Filling the bar completely (100%) grants the bonus reward of the month and the total sum of Tender

• Turn in any 25 quests — done in a single evening
• Win 3 pet battles — 10 minutes in Dornogal
• Complete 5 world quests — done alongside reputation farming
• Catch 20 fish in any zone — works even without leveled fishing
• Kill 100 mobs in any zone — closed out in a single reputation run
