Big Battle Bear

The Big Battle Bear is a rare epic ground mount that first appeared in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a massive brown bear clad in full battle armor, one of the most recognizable collectible mounts in World of Warcraft. The bear was originally an exclusive reward from the WoW Trading Card Game — the The Red Bearon card from the Drums of War set (2008).

In 2023, Blizzard gave the bear away for free to Amazon Prime Gaming subscribers, which greatly increased the number of owners. The mount is bind-on-use, so it can be bought and sold on the in-game Auction House or traded directly to other players.

• Collector value — one of the few mounts that came from the WoW TCG. Before the 2023 Prime Gaming promotion, unused codes could sell for as much as 400 dollars.
• Unique model — a large armored bear with a saddle and plating, visually distinct from every other bear in the game.
• Account-wide — once activated, the mount appears in the collection of all your characters, regardless of faction and class.
• Minimal requirements — only level 10 and Apprentice Riding are needed to use it.
• Counts toward achievements — it counts toward the mount tally for the Old School Rider achievement series.

The Big Battle Bear is a bind-on-use mount. This means it can be freely traded between players until the moment it is activated. In 2026 there are several ways to obtain it.

Auction House

The most accessible method for most players. After the 2023 Amazon Prime Gaming promotion, a significant number of unused items appeared on the servers, which players list for sale through the regular Auction House.

1. Open the Auction House in any major city
2. Type "Big Battle Bear" into the search bar
3. Check the price — it varies from server to server and can range from a few tens of thousands to several hundred thousand gold
4. If the mount is not available on your server, check the Auction House regularly, as listings appear unpredictably
5. After buying, right-click the item in your bags to learn the mount

Direct Deal with Another Player

Since the item is not bound until used, you can arrange a purchase with another player through the trade window or via cash-on-delivery mail. Be careful and only make deals through safe channels — the trade window or in-game cash-on-delivery mail.

TCG Code

The original way to obtain it. The The Red Bearon card from the Drums of War set contains a scratch code that must be activated on the Blizzard website. After activation, you receive a second code that is entered in-game from the NPC Landro Longshot in Booty Bay.

1. Buy a The Red Bearon card with an unused code on the secondary market
2. Go to the code redemption page on the Blizzard website and enter the 25-digit code from the scratch strip
3. Receive an in-game redemption code
4. In-game, head to Cape of Stranglethorn
5. Find Landro Longshot — he stands on the pier
6. In the dialogue, choose "Drums of War," then "Big Battle Bear," and enter the code

Note: unused codes are extremely rare and can cost a significant amount of money. There is also always the risk of running into a used code when buying from an unverified seller.

Amazon Prime Gaming (promotion ended)

From March 30 to April 27, 2023, Amazon Prime Gaming subscribers could get the mount for free by linking their Blizzard account to Twitch and Amazon. The promotion has ended, but Blizzard periodically brings back similar offers — keep an eye on the news on the official website and on social media.
