Overview

Branch of Aviana

Game iconBranch of Aviana is a two-handed staff from the Dragonflight expansion, added in patch 10.2 alongside the Emerald Dream zone. It looks like a sacred staff, with branches and feathers curling around its head and the names of raven-druids and harpy matriarchs carved along the shaft. The pale wood and soft golden-green glow make it a recognizable "nature" model that fits druid and priest looks well.

From a transmog standpoint it is a recolor of Game iconOrigin of Nightmares, a staff from Naxxramas. Where the original was grim and "plagued," the Branch of Aviana reimagines that same model in a bright, natural palette. The item is of uncommon quality and binds when picked up, so any character able to wield a staff can carry it.

Source

The Branch of Aviana drops from the treasure Boon of Aviana in the Emerald Dream zone. This is a one-time loot: the chest can be opened once per character and does not respawn.

You cannot simply open the chest — first you need to gain a temporary blessing:

  • Find the interactive object Mark of Aviana — it lies on a bookshelf in the Wild Garden area, on a small island west of the statue of the Lady of the Skies.
  • Use the Mark of Aviana — you will receive the buff "Winged Guardian Spirit" and a spirit companion for one minute. It is this buff that lets you see and open the chest with the staff.
  • While the buff is active, get to the statue of the Lady of the Skies at the coordinates /way 64.1 19.1 as quickly as possible and interact with the Boon of Aviana chest.
  • Inside, alongside the staff itself, there is a supply of Dream Energy — the currency of the Emerald Dream.

The main challenge is the timer: you have about a minute to travel from the Mark to the statue. If the buff fades before you arrive, simply return to the Mark of Aviana and activate it again.

To reach the Emerald Dream at all, you must complete the introductory part of the Dragonflight storyline "The Dream's Call." Once the zone is unlocked, you can use the portal in Valdrakken for a quick return.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Looks great in druid sets with a natural, "woodland" theme thanks to the soft golden-green glow.
  • Harmonizes with white and cream cloth ensembles — for example, in priest-of-the-light looks.
  • Suits outfits with Emerald Dream and nature motifs thanks to the branch and feather carvings.
  • Works as a striking contrast against dark armor: the pale staff becomes a bright accent detail in the silhouette.

Tips

1

Plan your route from the Mark of Aviana to the statue of the Lady of the Skies in advance — you only have about a minute for the trip.

2

Use the Mark only when you are ready to run straight to the chest: the buff is wasted if you stand still.

3

If the buff fades on the way, don't panic — just return to the Mark of Aviana and activate it again, there is no limit on the number of attempts.

4

If you want to grab the similar ash-barked staff treasure on the same visit, plan both routes ahead: the treasure mechanic in the zone is identical.

5

The loot is one-time per character, so keep a free bag slot to be sure you can pick up the staff.

6

Opening the chest counts toward the achievement Treasures of the Emerald Dream — a handy reason to collect several zone rewards at once.
