Burrowing Shovel is a two-handed mace whose model is a genuine spade with a wooden handle and a metal blade. It is one of the oldest "working" items in the game, surviving all the way from the original World of Warcraft, and today it is valued not for its stats but precisely for its deliberately mundane appearance.

In a character's hands, the shovel looks like a simple miner's tool rather than a weapon of war — and that is where all of its comedic potential comes from. The item is of uncommon (green) quality and suits any class that can wield two-handed maces. For transmogrification, only the unlocked appearance matters: as soon as the shovel lands in your bags, the model is added to your collection.

The shovel drops from a rare mob in an underground mine in the western Eastern Kingdoms.
