Overview

Crow Wing Reaper

Game iconCrow Wing Reaper is a blue-quality two-handed axe from The Burning Crusade era. Its appearance follows a dark avian theme: the shadowy blades resemble spread crow wings and tie directly into the arakkoa, the feathered people who inhabit the dungeon where the axe drops. For transmog it is a compact, recognizable two-hander with no unnecessary ornamentation.

Unlike the raid rarities of those years, the appearance is easy to obtain even today: the old-level dungeon can be cleared solo in just a few minutes.

Source

The source type is a drop from the dungeon's final boss, available and farmable solo.

  • The axe drops from Talon King Ikiss, the last boss of Sethekk Halls.
  • Sethekk Halls is a dungeon in the Auchindoun complex, in Terokkar Forest (Outland).
  • At current level the dungeon is cleared solo, and you can reach Ikiss quickly.
  • The drop chance, by various estimates, is roughly 7–13%, so it usually takes several runs.
  • On Normal difficulty the dungeon can be reset without a long wait, so runs are easy to repeat back to back.

Who it suits visually

  • Looks with a crow and arakkoa theme: the dark wing-blades support the avian motif.
  • Sets in a black-and-gray palette: the axe looks great in somber looks without bright accents.
  • "Dark" warrior or reaper builds: the name and silhouette work toward a sinister concept.
  • Outland- and Auchindoun-styled looks: the item comes from those places and fits outfits of that period.

Tips

1

Run Sethekk Halls on Normal difficulty back to back — the lockout there is short, and attempts add up quickly.

2

On each run, kill specifically Talon King Ikiss: the axe drops only from him.

3

If you want to strengthen the "crow" look, run the dungeon on Heroic to summon Anzu: he drops the inv-mount_raven_54Reins of the Raven Lord, a flying raven mount.

4

Keep in mind that Anzu on Heroic is summoned by a druid using a special ability, so without a druid in the group there is no chance at the mount.

5

The axe is convenient to farm on classes that use two-handed weapons — for example, warriors, paladins, and death knights, who can also wield the axe itself.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
