Overview

Crystalforged Sword

Game iconCrystalforged Sword is a one-handed sword of uncommon quality from The Burning Crusade expansion. The blade sprouts bluish apexis crystals, and this translucent turquoise cut makes it stand out against ordinary low-level weapons. The model belongs to the apexis line of items tied to the ogres of the Blade's Edge Mountains and their crystal magic.

The sword requires level 27 and has an extremely low item level, so in combat terms it is useless today. Its value is purely cosmetic: a compact silhouette and a rare "crystalline" texture that is hard to replicate with other blades in this level range.

Source

The sword does not drop directly. You obtain it by activating a blank — the Game iconDepleted Sword — with the power of 50 apexis shards.

  • The Game iconDepleted Sword blank drops from creatures on the "floating" plateaus of the Blade's Edge Mountains — in the Blade's Edge Mountains zone in Outland, which can only be reached on a flying mount.
  • The best farming spots are the surroundings of Ogri'la and Bash'ir Landing, where ethereals and apexis creatures are densely packed.
  • To activate it you need to gather 50 Game iconApexis Shard items. The shards drop from nearly all creatures of the Blade's Edge Mountains near Ogri'la and Bash'ir Landing.
  • Once you have collected the shards, use the blank — the built-in effect "Affecting this item with the power of 50 Apexis Shards can awaken its true might" turns it into the finished sword.
  • The finished sword becomes soulbound on equip, so it cannot be passed to another character — the shards must be farmed by the hero who needs the transmog.
  • A rarer and more expensive currency of the same system is the Game iconApexis Crystal, but this sword does not require it, only the shards.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It suits looks with a cold turquoise-blue palette — the crystalline texture of the blade echoes frost and arcane sets.
  • It harmonizes with other apexis items if you want to assemble a themed "crystalline" look from Blade's Edge Mountains weapons.
  • It contrasts with dark leather and plate armor, serving as a bright glowing accent on the hand.
  • Thanks to its compact silhouette it is convenient for light rogue and mage looks, where a bulky blade is not needed.

Tips

1

The longest stage is gathering the 50 shards, so combine farming the blank and the shards in the same zone near Ogri'la.

2

Bring a flying mount: without flight you cannot reach the "upper" plateaus of the Blade's Edge Mountains and Bash'ir Landing.

3

At level 90 the creatures of the Blade's Edge Mountains die instantly, so the entire farm comes down to clearing the plateaus for speed.

4

It is most convenient to farm with classes that have high mobility and area damage — they clear dense groups of ethereals fastest.

5

In a single run the same mobs also drop other blanks of the apexis line, so you can collect several cosmetic items in parallel.

6

Do not activate the blank until you have accumulated exactly 50 shards — you cannot spend them partially.

7

The shards are soulbound to the character, so plan the farm on the hero who needs the transmog.
