Dawn of Demise — Transmog Set Guide

Dawn of Demise is an epic-quality one-handed sword with an unmistakable demonic model: a wide jagged blade with a spiked guard and a dark green Fel glow running along the edge. It is a recreation of the classic Naxxramas-era sword model, brought back into the game as a reward for the ancient secrets of the citadel.

In essence it is a transmog item: the sword's stats are symbolic, and all of its value lies in the model. The appearance cannot be obtained as a drop — it is crafted from an ancient plan that drops from the secret scrolls of the revamped Naxxramas. The item was added in patch 10.1.5 of the Dragonflight expansion, together with the citadel's hidden recipe system.

The dark green palette and aggressive silhouette make the sword an excellent choice for looks built around the Scourge, the undead, and Fel themes.

Dawn of Demise is crafted with the Classic Blacksmithing profession (level 300) from the recipe Ancient Plans: Dawn of Demise. The plan itself cannot be bought directly — it drops at random from the Slime-Covered Scroll, which unlocks a random ancient Naxxramas recipe.

To reach the source of the scrolls:

• First you need to earn the achievement Wards of the Dread Citadel — it unlocks the revamped portal to Naxxramas in the Plaguelands.
• Inside the revamped Naxxramas, the scrolls are sold by a hidden vendor for tokens that are farmed throughout the citadel itself.
• Each scroll grants a random recipe from a large pool, so getting a specific plan may take many attempts.
• The plan is not bound; it can be sold to or bought from other players through the auction house if you would rather not farm the scrolls yourself.

To craft the sword itself you will need Classic-era reagents:

• Wartorn Scrap — 40x.
• Large Fang — 8x.
• Enchanted Thorium Bar — 16x.
• Essence of Undeath — 20x.
• Dark Rune — 6x.
• Arcanite Bar — 12x.

• Looks built around Scourge and undead themes: the sword directly references the aesthetic of Naxxramas.
• Dark green Fel-themed sets — the blade's glow fits this palette without clashing.
• Plate sets for death knights, where you need a sinister jagged one-handed blade.
• Dual-wield looks with two identical swords — the massive model looks symmetrical in both hands.
