Dawnforged Long Blade — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Dawnforged Long Blade is a one-handed sword of uncommon (blue) quality, added to World of Warcraft with the Midnight expansion. It is a classic knightly blade with a straight, double-edged blade and warm gold-and-bronze hilt detailing, kept in the "dawn" color palette of the expansion's smithing line.
The model is versatile: the clean silhouette, free of flashy spikes and glow, fits most "classic" warrior looks. In terms of stats, this is entry-level gear for a level 90 character, but for transmog what matters is the model, not the damage numbers.
Source
The blade does not drop from bosses and cannot be bought with reputation — it is crafted by blacksmiths.
- Profession: Midnight Blacksmithing, skill 25 required.
- The recipe is learned from the Midnight blacksmithing trainer; the training cost is 160 gold.
- Crafting time is about 2 seconds, and a blacksmith hammer is needed.
- The finished item becomes soulbound on equip, so you cannot craft it "for sale" toward someone else's transmog — make it on the character who needs the model.
Reagents per craft:
| Reagent | Qty |
|---|---|
| 2 | |
| 4 |
Both reagents are basic raw materials from the starter branch of Midnight Blacksmithing, so they are easy to gather even with a freshly leveled profession.
If you want exactly this gold-and-steel sword, there is no direct recolor of the blade itself on sale — for the closest matches in mood, look among plain one-handed swords with warm metal and no glow.
Visual Fit
- For "sunlit" and paladin-style looks with gold and bronze — the blade echoes the warm palette of such sets.
- Looks great paired with light plate armor: the even metal of the blade does not pull attention away from the armor.
- Suits neutral "knightly" sets that call for a stern sword without effects or spikes.
- It contrasts with dark leather or mail armor — a debatable but expressive choice for the look of a wandering mercenary.
Tips
Level Midnight Blacksmithing to at least skill 25 and learn the recipe from the trainer — this is the only path to the model.
First craft the entry-quality version to unlock the appearance: for a transmog collection, secondary stats and upgrades do not matter.
Make the blade on the character who needs the model — the item is soulbound on equip.
The reagents
Luminant Flux and
Refulgent Copper Ingot are cheap on the auction house, so buying the materials is almost always more worthwhile than farming them yourself.
The "Dawnforged" line includes several weapon types — in a single visit to the trainer it is convenient to learn and craft a couple of appearances in the same style at once.
