Get Don Santos' Famous Hunting Rifle
Overview

Don Santos' Famous Hunting Rifle is an epic two-handed firearm added in The Burning Crusade expansion (patch 2.0.3). The model is a massive rifle with a long barrel and a distinctive yellow tube on its side. Its main feature is the firing animation: every shot sends green sparks flying out of the muzzle, while large green rings burst from the yellow tube on the barrel. This flashy presentation is exactly what made the rifle a coveted transmog for hunters and anyone who uses firearms.
Source
This weapon is a bind-on-equip world drop, so you can either buy it on the auction house or farm it yourself.
- The rifle drops from The Burning Crusade-level mobs — primarily in the zones of Outland.
- A world drop has no exact "address": the item drops rarely and from a wide pool of enemies, with no tie to a specific boss.
- The item is of epic quality, so its drop chance from a regular mob is extremely low. Don't count on a quick farm.
- Since the weapon is BoE (it only becomes soulbound once equipped), the most reliable route is searching the auction house. Prices vary wildly from server to server.
- If you want to farm it personally, the most efficient approach is clearing dense clusters of mobs in Outland zones at max level, where kills go quickly.
Visual fit
- It suits hunters and any specializations that use firearms as their main weapon for transmog.
- The green firing animation harmonizes with sets in green-and-black tones — for example, armor with a Fel or nature theme.
- The massive, "industrial" silhouette of the barrel fits goblin and engineering looks well.
- It contrasts nicely with light leather armor in bright tones — the weapon is large and eye-catching, and it will become the centerpiece of the look.
Tips
Before farming, check the auction house: a world drop is often cheaper to obtain by buying it than to spend hours hunting for it.
For solo farming, pick a class with a high pack-clearing speed — that way you'll kill more enemies in the same amount of time.
The green animation is only visible while firing, so you can only appreciate the effect in combat or in the transmog preview mode.
If you specifically want the silhouette without the green sparks, don't overpay for Don Santos' rifle — order a
Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer from an engineer.
The weapon is BoE, so you can farm it on any character and send it to the one you need via the auction house or mail before equipping it.
The long name makes the rifle a handy "prop" for jokes in trade chat — but for transmog, its flashy firing is what matters most.
