Overview

Draconic Gladiator's Drake

Game iconDraconic Gladiator's Drake is a prestigious flying mount awarded for rated 3v3 arena in the fourth season of Dragonflight. The mount was added in patch 10.2.6 and is tied to the spell Game iconDraconic Gladiator's Drake. It is a massive dragonkin with dark scales, glowing eyes, and the unmistakable aura of a conqueror — its description states that "its wings cast the skies in the shadow of subjugation."

The mount could only be obtained during Dragonflight Season 4 by earning the Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 4 achievement. After the release of the pre-patch for The War Within, the reward became unavailable — it is a status mount that remained only with those who completed it during their season.

Why you want this mount

  • Status and exclusivity — the mount is no longer granted, and having it in your collection forever marks you as a player who earned the Gladiator title in Dragonflight Season 4
  • Unique dragonkin model — a separate flying model not based on Dragonriding, with its own takeoff, landing, and hover animations
  • Accompanying manuscript — the mount comes together with Game iconHighland Drake: Embodiment of the Draconic Gladiator, which unlocks the full drake appearance for the Game iconHighland Drake in the Dragonriding system
  • Account-wide access — once obtained, it appears on every character on your account regardless of faction and class
  • Completes the Dragonflight gladiator drake collection — together with the Game iconCrimson Gladiator's Drake (Season 1) and the Game iconVerdant Gladiator's Slitherdrake (Season 3), it forms the full set of the expansion's PvP mounts

How to obtain

The only path to this mount is to complete the Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 4 achievement by winning 50 games in rated 3v3 arena at Elite rank during the fourth season of Dragonflight. The season ended on July 22, 2024, and the reward is now officially unavailable.

PvP season ranks

To earn the mount, you had to play at the highest rank of the seasonal system. Each rank unlocks the next, so the path to Elite rank passes through all the intermediate tiers.

Rank Rating What it unlocks
Combatant 0–1,399 Base PvP set, access to the "Vicious Dreamtalon" reward
Challenger 1,400–1,599 Challenger set appearances, increased currency conversion rate
Duelist 1,800–2,099 Duelist set appearances, increased PvP gear flow
Rival 2,100–2,399 Rival set appearances, access to purchasing Elite weapons
Elite 2,400+ Full Elite set, a chance to complete the Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 4 achievement

Preparing to close out the mount

Even if you planned to obtain the mount during your season, reaching Elite rank without preparation was extremely difficult. This section preserves recommendations that remain relevant for future PvP seasons and similarly structured rewards.

Gear

Before storming high rating, you need to assemble the maximum gear set available from regular arena and battlegrounds.

  1. Complete the weekly arena quest and accumulate Marks of Honor to purchase the seasonal PvP set
  2. Raise your rating to Rival level for access to a higher item level in the exchange
  3. Replace weak slots after each rating-increasing week — every +200 rating unlocks a PvP item upgrade
  4. Round out the set with PvP gems from the battleground shop and socket the seasonal stones

Team composition

For stable farming of 50 wins at Elite rank, a coordinated team matters:

  • A tank player is not needed — all Dragonflight PvP compositions were built on two damage dealers and one healer
  • Voice chat is mandatory — playing at 2,400+ requires synchronized micro-CC and pre-called cooldowns

Optimal path to the mount

Rating climb pace

The arena ladder comes alive in the first two weeks of the season, when rating inflation is minimal. The earlier you enter, the cheaper each step toward 2,400 becomes.

  1. Start in the very first week of the season with a rested team
  2. Until rating 1,800, don't take a break longer than 30 minutes — short sessions gain MMR faster
  3. From 2,100 to 2,400, switch to longer blocks of games (5–7 matches in a row) for clean MMR
  4. At Elite rank, watch your peak rating — the 50 winning matches count specifically while holding Elite rating

Time window

In the fourth season of Dragonflight, players had about three months to complete Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 4 — from late April to late July 2024. Most of those who finished did so in the last two weeks of the season, but counting on the "last moment" is risky: servers are overloaded, queues grow, and MMR inflation tightens entry into Elite rank.

Alternatives and substitutability

The mount cannot be replaced by a purchase with in-game gold or currency, cannot be obtained from the old PvP system, and cannot be dropped by mobs. It is exclusively a seasonal arena reward.

Tips

1

Don't confuse the achievements — the mount is granted by Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 4, while the "Draconic Gladiator" title is a separate achievement, Draconic Gladiator: Dragonflight Season 4, for the top 0.1%

2

3v3 arena only — Solo Shuffle and 2v2 arena do not count toward the 50 wins; you need rated 3v3 queue matches specifically

3

The mount is not transferable between characters — it is added to the account collection, but the mail arrived only for the character who completed the achievement

4

For future seasons — the PvP arena reward structure carries over into Midnight as well: each season releases a new gladiator mount on a similar scheme, so your skills and team are transferable

5

If you don't have this mount — there are no legal ways to obtain it retroactively. Any offers to "buy an account with the mount" violate the Blizzard user agreement and lead to a ban

6

Link to the PvP marker — having the mount in your collection automatically displays the season medallion on hover in the collection window, which emphasizes the status of the achievement
