Overview

Elysian Aquilon

Game iconElysian Aquilon is an epic flying mount added in patch 9.1.0 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a winged automaton centurion forged at the Eternal Forge in Bastion — the sanctuary of the Kyrian Covenant. The mount is awarded automatically upon reaching Renown level 45 with the Kyrian Covenant.

In appearance, the Elysian Aquilon is a mechanical winged guardian threaded with streams of blue anima. Unlike the earlier phalynxes, aquilons are larger and possess developed wings that allow full flight. The mount journal description reads: "When anima began flowing into Bastion's Eternal Forge once more, the schematics for aquilon centurions became relevant again."

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the Elysian Aquilon does not rely on luck. As soon as you reach Renown level 45 with the Kyrian, the mount will be in your bag
  • Unique model — aquilons belong to the family of Bastion automatons and are visually distinct from any other mount in the game. A mechanical guardian with wings of anima looks striking both on the ground and in the air
  • Ground and flying — the mount works in both modes. Movement speed depends on your riding skill: up to +100% on the ground and up to +310% in the air
  • Available to all characters — upon reaching Renown level 80 with the Kyrian, the mount becomes available to all characters on your account, even if they belong to a different covenant
  • Part of the collection — the Elysian Aquilon is one of a lineup of five aquilons (alongside the Game iconForsworn Aquilon, Game iconBattle-Hardened Aquilon, Game iconBronze Aquilon and Ascendant's Aquilon). Collectors will enjoy gathering them all

How to Obtain

To obtain the mount, you need to join the Kyrian Covenant and raise your Renown to level 45.

  1. Reach Oribos — the central city of the Shadowlands. If your character has not yet been to the Shadowlands, take the starter quest from Darion Mograine in Orgrimmar (Horde) or Stormwind (Alliance). When speaking with Nazgrim, you can skip the introductory Maw scenario and head straight to Oribos. After that, you need to fully complete the main Shadowlands storyline.
  2. Find Tal-Inara in Oribos and complete the introductory quest "Choosing Your Purpose." After this, representatives of all four covenants become available
  3. Speak with Polemarch Adrestes (coordinates 36.2, 64.2 in Oribos) to join the Kyrian Covenant
  4. Raise your Renown to level 45 by completing campaign quests, weekly quests, and world quests in Bastion
  5. Upon reaching Renown level 45, the Game iconElysian Aquilon mount will automatically appear in your bag. Use the item to learn the mount

Raising Renown with the Kyrian Covenant

Renown is the progression system for the Shadowlands covenants. The maximum level is 80. Renown level 45 is enough to obtain the Elysian Aquilon.

Covenant Campaign (main source)

Each chapter of the Kyrian Covenant campaign rewards 1–2 levels of Renown. The campaign consists of 9 chapters and unlocks as your Renown increases. This is the fastest and most reliable way to earn the first 20–25 levels.

Weekly Quests

Two weekly quests, each granting 1 level of Renown:

  • "Replenish the Reservoir" — gather 1,000 units of anima from any source (world quests, dungeons, raids)
  • "Return Lost Souls" — rescue souls from the Maw

World Quests and Callings

World quests in Bastion and daily callings can randomly reward a level of Renown. This source is less predictable but reliably works as a supplement.

Accelerated Leveling on Alts

If your account already has a character at Renown level 80 in any covenant, you can purchase a Game iconBroker Mark of Distinction from Au'Dara near the flight master in Oribos for 500 gold. The token instantly raises the active covenant's Renown to level 60. The item is account-bound — it can be mailed to alts.

Leveling Optimization

Optimal Order of Actions

At max level (90 in Midnight), Shadowlands content is completed very quickly. Recommended sequence:

  1. Complete all available covenant campaign chapters — they give the most Renown for the time invested
  2. Complete both weekly quests every week
  3. Between campaign chapters, run Torghast at high levels — it is one of the fastest sources of additional Renown
  4. Complete world quests and callings in Bastion when they are available

How Long It Will Take

With active leveling, reaching Renown level 45 takes roughly 1–2 weeks. If you already have a Broker Mark of Distinction (instant boost to level 60), you will pass the level 45 mark immediately. Without the token, most of the time is spent waiting for the weekly quest reset, but the catch-up system lets you earn Renown from many sources simultaneously.

Raising Renown to 80 (to unlock on all characters)

If you want to use the Elysian Aquilon on characters of other covenants, you will need to reach Renown level 80 with the Kyrian. After that, the mount becomes available to all characters on your account. Additional sources on the way from 45 to 80:

  • Continue the covenant campaign and quest chains
  • Weekly quests in Zereth Mortis
  • Daily quests in Korthia

Tips

1

Skip the Maw — on your first visit to the Shadowlands, be sure to use the option to skip the introductory scenario via Nazgrim. This saves 30–40 minutes

2

Don't get stuck on the campaign — if a campaign chapter is not yet available due to insufficient Renown, switch to other sources: Torghast, dungeons, world quests. The catch-up system works aggressively and grants Renown from almost any content
