Malavita
Malavita first discovered World of Warcraft in Draenor, but truly got into the game with the Shadowlands expansion. Has a soft spot for Demon Hunters and Mages. Considers her main goal to be collecting as many mounts as possible.

Flametalon of Alysrazor is a rare ground mount added in patch 4.2 of the Cataclysm expansion. It is a fiery hawk with blazing plumage, visually resembling the model of the
Reins of the Raven Lord, but in a fiery color scheme. The mount drops from the boss Alysrazor in the Firelands raid.
Despite Alysrazor being a flying boss, her mount is exclusively a ground mount. Movement speed depends on your riding skill: +60% or +100%. The mount is available for use from level 10 with the Apprentice Riding skill.
There are two ways to get this mount:
The primary and most common method is to kill the boss Alysrazor in the Firelands raid. The mount drops as the item
Flametalon of Alysrazor directly from the boss's corpse.
The mount occasionally appears on the Black Market Auction House (BMAH). The starting bid is usually around 20,000 gold, but competition among collectors can drive the final price significantly higher.
In The War Within, the BMAH is located in the city of Dornogal, on the eastern side of the Rift district. Coordinates: /way Dornogal 64.7 52.6. Access to the BMAH requires a level 80 character.

The Firelands raid is located in the southern part of Mount Hyjal (continent of Kalimdor). The entrance is in Sulfuron Spire.
Prerequisites: No quest chains or keys are required to enter the raid. You can enter the dungeon directly.
Alysrazor is located in the northeastern part of the raid, at the Shatterstone location. In Firelands, the first five bosses (Shannox, Lord Rhyolith, Beth'tilac, Alysrazor, and Baleroc) can be killed in any order. This means you can head straight to Alysrazor right after entering, bypassing the other bosses. You only need to clear a few groups of trash mobs along the way.
Starting from patch 8.2.5, Firelands uses a flexible lockout system. Normal and Heroic difficulties have separate lockouts. This means each character can kill Alysrazor twice per week — once on each difficulty.
Time per run: 3–5 minutes (including travel and combat).
Since the mount drop chance is approximately 2%, it is most efficient to use as many characters as possible.
| Characters | Attempts per Week | Average Time to Obtain |
|---|---|---|
| 1 character | 2 | ~50 weeks (about 1 year) |
| 5 characters | 10 | ~10 weeks (2–3 months) |
| 10 characters | 20 | ~5 weeks (1–1.5 months) |
At level 80, any class destroys Cataclysm content instantly. The key criterion is movement speed:
| Class | Advantage |
|---|---|
| Druid | Instant flight form; fastest flight to the raid after the portal |
| Demon Hunter | Double jump and glide speed up movement inside the raid |
| Mage | Teleportation saves time when switching between alts |
| Monk | Zen Pilgrimage for fast travel to the raid |
While farming Alysrazor, you can also kill Ragnaros (final boss) for the
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor — a flying mount called the Pureblood Fire Hawk with a similar drop chance. To access Ragnaros, you must kill all five initial bosses.
Set the difficulty before entering. Right-click your character portrait and select the desired mode under "Raid Difficulty." Remember to clear the raid on both difficulties for the maximum number of attempts.
Use the SavedInstances addon. It shows which characters have already cleared the raid for the current week, saving you unnecessary flights.
Use the Rarity addon. This addon tracks the number of your attempts and calculates the statistical probability of obtaining the mount based on accumulated data.
Combine with Ragnaros farming. If you are willing to spend an additional 5–7 minutes, kill the remaining bosses and reach Ragnaros for the
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor. Two chances at a rare mount per run.
Raid resets every Wednesday (for European servers). Plan your farming sessions for the beginning of the week so you don't miss the reset.
Watch the Black Market Auction House. If the mount appears on the BMAH in Dornogal, it may be a faster (though more expensive) way to obtain it.
The mount is ground-only. Keep this in mind when choosing — if you're looking for a flying hawk from Firelands, check out the
Smoldering Egg of Millagazor from Ragnaros.
