Forged Spiteflyer

Forged Spiteflyer is a crafted mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 9.2 "Eternity's End" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a mechanical protoconstruct shaped like a massive wasp with a plated carapace in red-and-silver coloring, assembled by an ancient automa of Zereth Mortis. Its model relates it to three kin — the Bronzewing Vespoid, the Buzzbee, and the Chittering Vespoid — but the Spiteflyer looks bulkier and more aggressive than the rest.

The mount does not drop from a specific boss and is not bought from a vendor. You have to assemble it through the protoform synthesis system: find the Schematic: Forged Spiteflyer, bring it to the protoform forge, and feed the device the reagents — 450 Genesis Motes, 1 Eternal Ragepearl, and 1 Vespoid Lattice.

• Ground and flying — the mount works both as a ground mount (+60/+100% speed) and as a full-fledged flying mount (+150/+280/+310% in the air depending on your riding skill).
• A rare, unique model — a plated wasp-construct that visually stands apart from most of the game's flying mounts. It differs from its fellow vespoids with an aggressive red-and-silver coloring
• Account-bound — once reassembled, the mount appears in the collection of all your characters, regardless of faction and class.
• Part of the full protoform collection — together with the Bronzewing Vespoid, the Buzzbee, and the Chittering Vespoid it completes the "wasp" subgroup from Zereth Mortis.
• Nostalgic Shadowlands content — a great excuse to return to Zereth Mortis, finish the patch 9.2 story, and raise your reputation with The Enlightened along the way.
• Independent of raid-loot luck — unlike most boss-dropped mounts, this one calls for steady reagent farming without weekly lockouts.

Quick plan: unlock Zereth Mortis and protoform synthesis through the patch 9.2 story, pick up the schematic in the Resonant Peaks, farm reagents across the zone, and bring them to the Pinnacle of Oblivion.

1. Complete the Shadowlands story up to patch 9.2. The key step is finishing the Zereth Mortis campaign up to the quest Cyphers of the First Ones, which unlocks the Cypher Console and makes available the research branch leading to protoform synthesis.
2. Unlock mount crafting with the quest A New Architect. It gives you the first schematic, the first 450 Genesis Motes, and starts up the protoform forge.
3. Head to the Resonant Peaks subzone (northeast of Zereth Mortis, a little east of where Hadeon the Stonebreaker spawns). Inside the vespoid hive, on the wall right at the base, the Schematic: Forged Spiteflyer spawns.
4. Pick up the schematic. It starts the quest Schematic Reassimilation: Forged Spiteflyer with a description of the reagents.
5. Accumulate 450 Genesis Motes, 1 Eternal Ragepearl, and 1 Vespoid Lattice
6. Fly to the Pinnacle of Oblivion (coordinates ~68.5, 30.1, the western part of the Locus of Synthesis) and turn in the quest. The mount will be added to your collection.

Crafting requires three different entities: a bulk resource (motes), a rare single component from elites, and a rare single component from the wasp hive.

Farming can be done in parallel: by killing vespoids around the Humming Cliff you gather motes, get a chance at a Lattice, and periodically find Olea Caches all at once.

Before you fly off for the schematic, make sure the zone itself and the protoform forge are unlocked.

1. Character level 60 minimum (the requirement was not raised in The War Within — the base Shadowlands level is enough).
2. Chapter 2 of the 9.1 campaign completed in Korthia: the final quest is Charge of the Covenants. This opens the passage into Zereth Mortis
3. The Zereth Mortis story completed up to the quest Cyphers of the First Ones — that is what starts up the Cypher Console of the First Ones.
4. The separate quest A New Architect done, which makes the Pinnacle of Oblivion available for mount crafting.
5. It is advisable to raise reputation with the The Enlightened faction to Friendly — this adds weekly quests and steady sources of motes.
6. Free bag space (three reagent slots) and a hearthstone to Oribos.

If you haven't logged into Shadowlands in a while, retrace your route.

1. Fly to Oribos through the portal from your faction's capital.
2. From the 9.2 story heralds in the Ring of Fates, take the campaign continuation — or head straight to the portal to Zereth Mortis.
3. In Zereth Mortis the starting point is the Pilgrim's Repose in the center of the map.
4. Flight in the zone is available automatically as you progress through the 9.2 story — there is no separate "flying skill" quest required here.

Motes: a quick start

Genesis Motes are needed not only for the Spiteflyer but also for a range of other mounts and pets, so start stockpiling them in advance.

• Complete all the starting tasks of chapters 1–2 in Zereth Mortis — they immediately give several hundred motes
• Do the daily quests for the The Enlightened: one cycle brings 50–100 motes
• Clear out the automa caves in the Cleft of Shadows — this yields motes, pearls, and a chance at other reagents
• Collect Olea Caches — they contain motes, lattices, and pearls all at once

Vespoid Lattice and Eternal Ragepearl

These two components are the bottleneck of the farm. Their drop chance is low, so you need mob density and minimal kill time.

• Vespoid Lattice: farm on the Humming Cliff and around the hive in the Resonant Peaks. Kill all the vespoids in a row, including the overseers.
• Eternal Ragepearl: hunt Dominated Architects and other elite automa in the Cleft of Shadows and around the Forge of Afterlives. Elites hit harder but offer an increased chance
• Bring loot-counter addons to track how many attempts you've made.
• If you have several alts with Zereth Mortis unlocked, run the same route on each — every character gives an independent chance.

Olea Caches as insurance

Olea Caches drop from all creatures of Zereth Mortis and are also sold by a vendor for Cyphers of the First Ones. Inside is a random mix of protoform synthesis reagents, including lattices and pearls. This is your safe source if RNG on direct drops drags on.
