Heritage Undercrawler
Overview

Heritage Undercrawler is an epic ground mount added in patch 11.0.2 of The War Within expansion. It is a massive spider-like steed with an orange-brown coloration, bred by the forces of the Heritage army in the underground caves of Azj-Kahet. The mount is purchased from vendors in the Azj-Kahet zone for the Kej currency after reaching the Conspirator rank in the pact system with the General — one of the three leaders of the Severed Threads faction.
According to the mount journal description: "Breeding arachnids is an ancient tradition of the Heritage army. Although most specimens are used to haul cargo or raised as shock troops, the finest examples are sometimes trained as ceremonial mounts." The mount model is a large undercrawler spider with a distinctive orange coloration that sets it apart from other underground undercrawler variants.
Note: if Arachnophobia mode is enabled in the accessibility settings, the mount model is replaced with an alternative that lacks spider-like features.
Why You Want This Mount
- Unique coloration — the orange-brown color sets the Heritage Undercrawler apart from the other Azj-Kahet undercrawlers (Court Undercrawler, Weaver's Undercrawler), each of which is tied to its own pact leader.
- A symbol of progress with the General — owning this mount shows that you have reached the high Conspirator rank with the General (Anub'azal), the military leader of the Severed Threads.
- Account-wide availability — once purchased, the mount becomes available on all characters through the Warband system.
- Guaranteed acquisition — the mount does not depend on a random drop. Reach the required reputation rank, save up the currency, and buy it from a vendor.
- The War Within theme — the arachnid mounts of Azj-Kahet are among the most memorable means of transport in the current expansion.
- Low cost — the price of 2,020 Kej is quite affordable and does not require lengthy currency farming.
How to Obtain
To purchase the mount, you need to meet two conditions: reach the Conspirator rank (rank 7) in the pact system with the General and save up 2,020 Kej.
- Complete the main Azj-Kahet story campaign to unlock access to the Severed Threads pact system
- Each week, form a pact with the General (Anub'azal) by speaking to Lady Vinazian in the Weaver's Lair
- Complete the weekly pact quest to earn reputation with the General and 500 Kej
- Advance through the ranks: Acquaintance → Underling → Associate → Collaborator → Accomplice → Instigator → Conspirator → Organizer
- Upon reaching the Conspirator rank (rank 7), the mount becomes available for purchase
- Unlock the mount through the NPC Anub'okki — the General's quartermaster on the lower tier of the Weaver's Lair (coordinates 55.8, 42.2)
- Purchase the
Heritage Undercrawler for 2,020 Kej from one of the vendors: Yamas the Provisioner, Anub'okki, or Aspirant Kiipka
Minimum time frame: about 7 weeks if you choose the pact with the General every week without skipping.
Severed Threads Pact System
The Severed Threads are the main faction of Azj-Kahet in The War Within. The faction has a shared renown track, as well as three separate leaders, with each of whom you can build individual reputation through the pact system.
The Three Pact Leaders
| Leader | Specialization | Exclusive Mount |
|---|---|---|
| The General (Anub'azal) | Military might | Heritage Undercrawler |
| The Vizier | Knowledge and magic | Court Undercrawler |
| The Weaver | Espionage and intrigue | Weaver's Undercrawler |
How Pacts Work
- Each week you can form a pact with one of the three leaders through Lady Vinazian
- The pact choice applies account-wide (Warband) — all characters are tied to the same leader for the current week
- Completing the weekly pact quest earns you reputation with the chosen leader, 500 Kej, gear, and other rewards
- Advancing through one leader's ranks also raises your overall renown with the Severed Threads
General's Ranks
| Rank | Name | Week |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Acquaintance | 1 |
| 2 | Underling | 2 |
| 3 | Associate | 3 |
| 4 | Collaborator | 4 |
| 5 | Accomplice | 5 |
| 6 | Instigator | 6 |
| 7 | Conspirator | 7 |
| 8 | Organizer | 8 |
To purchase the Heritage Undercrawler, you specifically need rank 7 — Conspirator.
How to Farm Kej
Kej is the main currency of Azj-Kahet, used to buy gear, mounts, pets, and profession recipes. To purchase the mount you will need 2,020 Kej.
Weekly Sources
| Source | Reward |
|---|---|
| Weekly pact quest | 500 Kej |
| Call of the World-Soul | 450 Kej |
| Side quest chains | 250–750 Kej per chain |
Daily Sources
| Source | Reward |
|---|---|
| Rumors (mini-quests) | 50 Kej per quest |
| Rare enemies | 45 Kej for the first kill of the week |
| Treasures | 45 Kej per chest |
Other Sources
| Source | Reward |
|---|---|
| Delves in Azj-Kahet | 150 Kej per delve |

If you actively complete the weekly content, you will accumulate Kej along the way as you advance your reputation. By the time you reach the Conspirator rank (week 7), you will most likely already have enough currency to buy the mount.
How to Reach the Vendors
The vendors are located in the Weaver's Lair — the central hub of Azj-Kahet.
How to Get There
- Via Hearthstone: if your hearth is set to the Weaver's Lair, use it for instant travel
- Via flight path: fly to the nearest flight point in Azj-Kahet and descend into the Weaver's Lair
- Via portal: from the capital of Dornogal, use the portal or flight point to Azj-Kahet
The vendors are located on the lower tier of the Weaver's Lair. Anub'okki is a large scarab beetle and is easy to spot among the other NPCs.
Optimizing Your Acquisition
Planning for 7 Weeks
Since obtaining the mount requires 7 weeks of pacts with the General, it is important to plan your progress correctly.
| Week | Action | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1–6 | Form a pact with the General, complete the weekly quests, farm Kej along the way | Advancing through the ranks, accumulating currency |
| 7 | Form the pact, complete the quest, reach the Conspirator rank | Buy the mount |
Can It Be Sped Up
- You cannot form a pact with a single leader more than once per week
- You cannot skip ranks — they unlock sequentially
- You can alternate leaders, but this will slow your progress with the General. If you want to get the mount as soon as possible, choose the General every week
- You can farm Kej in parallel through delves, rumors, and rare enemies to guarantee that you have 2,020 Kej by week 7
Other Undercrawler Mounts
If you want to collect all three undercrawler variants, after obtaining the Heritage Undercrawler, switch to pacts with the Vizier and the Weaver. Each of them also requires the Conspirator rank, meaning another 7 weeks per leader.
Tips
Do not switch leaders until you get the mount. Every week spent with a different leader delays obtaining the Heritage Undercrawler. If the mount is your priority, choose the General for 7 weeks in a row without skipping.
Farm Kej through Rumors. The daily "Rumors" mini-quests are a fast and steady source of 50 Kej per quest. They refresh every day and are scattered throughout Azj-Kahet.
Use delves. Delves in Azj-Kahet give 150 Kej per run and are an excellent source of currency, especially if you are also farming gear or upgrades.
Check the rare enemies. Azj-Kahet's rare enemies give 45 Kej on the first kill of the week. Visit the known rare spawn points while flying around the zone.
Don't forget about the Call of the World-Soul. This weekly quest gives 450 Kej and is completed in parallel with other content. Don't skip it.
The mount is account-wide. Once purchased and learned, the Heritage Undercrawler becomes available on all characters of your account through the Warband system.
Plan for three mounts. If you are a collector, remember that Azj-Kahet offers three undercrawlers from three leaders — the General, the Vizier, and the Weaver. Each costs about the same and requires the Conspirator rank. The full collection takes at least 21 weeks.
Kej has no cap. Unlike some currencies, Kej is not limited by a weekly cap. You can accumulate as much as you want and spend it at any time.
