Ironforge Ram
Overview

Ironforge Ram is a ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.1.0). It is a large battle ram with powerful horns and sturdy armor, visually resembling the classic riding rams of the dwarves of Dun Morogh. According to the item's description, this was the very first breed that the dwarves tamed after settling Dun Morogh.
The mount is purchased for 100 Champion's Seals from Derrick Brindlebeard, the Ironforge quartermaster at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown. To buy it, you must earn Champion of Ironforge status by completing the Argent Tournament quest chain. The mount is available only to characters of the Alliance faction.
Why You Want This Mount
- Collector's value — the Ironforge Ram is part of the collection of five Alliance racial mounts sold at the Argent Tournament. Gathering all five will significantly expand your mount journal
- Unique model — unlike the standard Ironforge rams, this mount has a special coloration and detailing not available from regular vendors
- Unlock for the Horde — when you purchase the Ironforge Ram, your Horde characters automatically gain access to the
Darkspear Raptor, the equivalent mount of the opposite faction - Available account-wide — after purchase, the mount appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters
- Parallel farming — while you save up Champion's Seals for the ram, you simultaneously earn currency for other tournament rewards: pets, tabards, transmog weapons, and additional mounts
How to Reach the Argent Tournament
The Argent Tournament Grounds are located in the northeast of Icecrown (Northrend). You can get there in several ways.
- Via Dalaran (Northrend) — fly to Dalaran in Northrend, then take a flight to the Argent Tournament Grounds from the flight master. If you have never been to the tournament, talk to Jean-Pierre Poulain near the flight master in Dalaran — he will send you straight to the grounds
- On your own — from anywhere in Northrend, fly to the northeast of Icecrown. The grounds are visible on the map as a large area with tents and stands
- Argent Crusader's Tabard — if you already have this tabard from previous visits, it teleports your character straight to the grounds
How to Become a Champion of Ironforge
Before you can buy the mount, you need to work through the Argent Tournament rank chain and earn Champion of Ironforge status. The whole process takes roughly 8–10 days of daily quests (if Ironforge is your first faction).
Rank 1: Aspirant
Upon arriving at the grounds, talk to the representative of your race in the Alliance pavilion. You will receive the Aspirant rank and access to the first daily quests. Complete them and collect Aspirant's Seals.
- You need to collect 15 Aspirant's Seals
- Takes roughly 3 days of daily quests
- After collecting 15 seals, pick up the quest for the duel to become a Valiant
Rank 2: Valiant
Win the jousting duel and earn the rank of Valiant of Ironforge. New daily quests will open up, rewarding Valor's Seals.
- You need to collect 25 Valor's Seals
- Takes roughly 5 days of daily quests
- After collecting 25 seals, pick up the quest "The Valiant's Charge" for the final trial
Rank 3: Champion
Defeat three champions in mounted jousting. After the victory you will earn the achievement Champion of Ironforge and access to the quartermaster Derrick Brindlebeard, who sells the mount.
Note: if your character is a dwarf, Ironforge will be your first faction at the tournament. Characters of other Alliance races begin with their own racial faction, after which they can become champions of the remaining cities, including Ironforge.
How to Earn Champion's Seals
After earning Champion status, daily quests rewarding Champion's Seals will open up for you. This is exactly the currency needed to buy the mount.
Sources of Champion's Seals
| Source | Seals per day |
|---|---|
| Champion's daily quests (4 quests) | 4 |
| The quest "Threat From Above" (group, but easily soloable at level 90) | 2 |
| The quest "Among the Champions" | 1 |
| The quest "Battle Before the Citadel" | 1 |
| Heroic Trial of the Champion (dungeon) | 3 |
| Additional quests (after earning the Crusader title) | 3–4 |
| Total | 14–17 |
With steady completion of all available quests, you will earn 14–17 seals daily. Accumulating 100 seals will take 6–8 days after reaching Champion rank.
The Crusader Title
If you become a champion of all five Alliance cities and reach Exalted with the Argent Crusade, you will be granted the Crusader title. This opens up additional daily quests rewarding Champion's Seals, speeding up the currency farm.

Other Argent Tournament Mounts
The Argent Tournament sells racial mounts for each Alliance city. They all cost 100 Champion's Seals and require champion status for the corresponding city.
| Mount | Vendor | City |
|---|---|---|
| Derrick Brindlebeard | Ironforge | |
| Stormwind Quartermaster | Stormwind | |
| Darnassus Quartermaster | Darnassus | |
| Exodar Quartermaster | Exodar | |
| Gnomeregan Quartermaster | Gnomeregan |
By becoming a champion of all five cities, you will also gain access to additional rewards, including the Crusader title and unique pets.
Tips
Start with your own race — if your character is a dwarf, you will automatically begin the path to Champion of Ironforge. Characters of other races must first become a champion of their own racial city, and then take on Ironforge
Combine farming of several cities — after earning your first champion status, you can run the Valiant quest chain for the next city in parallel, saving time
At level 90 all quests are trivial — mounted duels, group quests, and the Trial of the Champion dungeon are cleared solo without any difficulty. Wrath of the Lich King content is long outdated
Don't forget the dungeon — Heroic Trial of the Champion gives 3 Champion's Seals per run and takes a couple of minutes at max level
Plan your purchases ahead — if you want to collect all five racial mounts, you will need 500 Champion's Seals and champion status in all five cities. The total farm will take several weeks
Check the other rewards — besides the ram, Derrick Brindlebeard also sells the
Dun Morogh Cub pet for 40 seals, an Ironforge banner for 15 seals, and transmog weapons for 25 seals each
