Ivory Grimlynx — How to Get the Haranir Allied Race Mount

Ivory Grimlynx is a ground mount awarded for unlocking the Haranir allied race in the Midnight expansion. A pale cat with massive fangs and root-styled armor inspired by Harandar, it instantly stands out among other mounts in your collection. The mount is account-bound: once obtained, it can be used on all characters.

The mount cannot be purchased or obtained from drops. The only way is to complete the Harandar zone story campaign and unlock the Haranir as an allied race.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique model: the grimlynx is a large cat from the fungal jungles of Harandar, featuring bioluminescent elements and root armor. There are only three color variants, and the ivory one is the easiest to obtain.
  • Unlocking the Haranir grants not only the mount but also access to a new race with unique racial abilities, druid forms, and shaman totems.
  • The mount is obtained alongside the Midnight storyline — no separate farming required.

Requirements

  1. Midnight expansion — an active subscription and access to expansion content are required.
  2. Level 80+ character — the Harandar campaign requires a character at least level 80 (content is designed for levels 83–88).
  3. Access to Harandar — Harandar is unlocked via the Scouting Map after starting the Midnight storyline. It is one of three zones to choose from, alongside Zul'Aman and Arator's Pilgrimage.

No additional quest chains, reputation, or keys are needed. Simply select Harandar on the map and begin the campaign.

Step-by-Step Guide

The Harandar campaign consists of three chapters. Each must be completed sequentially — the next one unlocks after the previous is finished.

Chapter 1: Of Caves and Cradles

The first chapter contains roughly 15 quests. You are introduced to Harandar — underground fungal jungles built among the roots of the World Trees. Key locations: Har'athir, Har'mara, and Har'quai villages.

What to expect:

  • Earn the trust of the Hara'ti council of elders
  • Investigate the disturbances in the caves beneath the root canopy
  • Travel through the Rootways
  • Deal with threats in Har'mara

Key quests: "The Root Cause," "To Har'athir," "The Council Assembles," "Seeds of the Rift."

Chapter 2: Call of the Goddess

The second chapter also contains about 15 quests. The action moves to the Rift of Aln, where you fight alongside Shul'ka warriors.

What to expect:

  • Destroy creatures crawling out of the Rift
  • Collect Alndust from defeated enemies
  • Descend into the depths of the Rift
  • Witness the return of the Goddess

Key quests: "To Sow the Seed," "The Madness Roots Deep," "Tell the People What You Have Seen."

Chapter 3: Emergence

The final chapter is the shortest — about 8 quests. The crisis building throughout the previous chapters erupts into open catastrophe. The unusual Lightbloom presence in the Eversong Forest turns out to be something far more dangerous.

What to expect:

  • Hold back the onslaught
  • Organize the retreat
  • Survive the climactic battle
  • Witness the rise of the Haranir

Key quests: "The Frenzied March," "Rise of the Haranir," "Looming Shadows."

Final Step: Quest in Silvermoon

After completing all three chapters, head to Silvermoon City. Near the portal to Harandar, in the Gardens of Remembrance, you will find Elder Hagar.

He offers the quest "The War Beyond the Roots." The quest requires speaking with Lor'themar Theron in the Sanctum of Light. Upon completion you receive:

How Long Does It Take

Completing all three chapters of the Harandar campaign takes approximately 3–4 hours at a normal pace. If you read all dialogues and complete side quests, it may take 5–6 hours. If you skip cutscenes and focus solely on the main chain, you can finish in 2.5–3 hours.

Unlike many mounts, there is no farming, no drop chance, and no weekly lockouts. Complete the campaign once — the mount is yours forever.

Other Grimlynx Variants

In addition to the Ivory Grimlynx, there are two other variants of this mount model:

Mount How to Obtain
Fierce Grimlynx Hara'ti faction renown reward
Rootstalker Grimlynx Drop from rare creatures in Harandar (daily reset)

Game files also contain two unused color variants (blue and grey) that may appear in future updates.

Additional Haranir Rewards

Unlocking the allied race grants more than just the mount:

  • Heritage armor — two sets (Har'alnor and Shul'ka) become available upon reaching level 50 on a Haranir character. Using a level boost does not count — you must level the character manually.
  • Unique druid forms — thematically tied to Harandar with fungal and root elements.
  • Unique shaman totems — Harandar-themed.
  • 9 available classes: druid, hunter, mage, monk, priest, rogue, shaman, warlock, warrior.

Haranir Racial Abilities

Ability Description
Thorn Bloom AoE damage and healing (3-minute cooldown)
One With Nature +5 Herbalism and +10 Finesse
Subterranean Predator Increased XP from certain enemies
Rootwalking Teleport to the Cradle, fast travel between World Trees
Lash Out +1% critical damage and healing

Tips

1

Harandar is one of three zones available for leveling from 83 to 88. If you plan to get the mount, choose this zone first — you'll combine leveling with race unlock.

2

Harandar side quests (15 additional chains) are not required for the race and mount unlock but grant extra XP and Hara'ti reputation.

3

After obtaining the mount, you can return to other zones (Zul'Aman, Arator's Pilgrimage) — they remain available.

4

If you want to collect all three grimlynx variants, start building Hara'ti renown alongside the campaign — world quests in Harandar award reputation with this faction.
