Jade Pandaren Kite

Jade Pandaren Kite is an epic flying mount added in patch 5.5.0 during the Mists of Pandaria expansion. The mount is a Pandaren-style kite rendered in a jade-green color scheme. Your character soars through the air while holding onto the kite's string.

The mount is a reward for the Want More Saddles achievement — collecting 150 mounts available to a single character. The achievement belongs to a series of collection rewards based on the number of mounts you have gathered.

Important: the mount is learned automatically when you complete the achievement. You don't need to receive an item in the mail or from a vendor — the Jade Pandaren Kite spell will appear in your mount journal as soon as you reach the 150-mount milestone.

• Unique model — the kite is one of the few mounts in the game where the character doesn't ride on top but instead soars through the air, holding onto the string. This sets it apart from most flying mounts.

• Always available — unlike many collection mounts tied to limited-time events, this mount is available at any time. You simply need to gather the required number of mounts in your collection.
• Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in your collection and can be used by any character on your account.

To earn the mount, you need to complete the Want More Saddles achievement by collecting 150 mounts available to a single character.

1. Open your mount journal (Shift+P by default) and check your current number of collected mounts.
2. Note: mounts available to that specific character are counted. Mounts restricted by faction or race only count for the character who can use them.
3. Collect mounts from various sources: reputation, dungeons, raids, achievements, vendors, professions, world events, and quests.
4. Once you reach the 150-mount milestone, the achievement will be completed automatically.
5. The Jade Pandaren Kite spell will appear in your mount journal instantly — no need to receive an item.

Tip: the most convenient way to track progress is on the "Statistics" tab in the achievements menu rather than the counter in the mount journal, since the journal may display the total number of account mounts rather than those available to a specific character.

The Jade Pandaren Kite is a flying mount shaped like a traditional Asian kite. The model is rendered in jade-green tones with distinctive Pandaren ornaments.

Key visual traits:

• The character doesn't sit on the mount but soars through the air, holding the kite's string with both hands.
• A jade-green color scheme with golden accents.
• The kite's shape resembles the traditional Pandaren kites found in the zones of Pandaria.
• Smooth flight animation — the kite sways in the wind, creating the sensation of genuine soaring.

When moving on the ground, the character runs along while holding the string as the kite soars overhead. Speed depends on your riding skill.

There are several Pandaren kites in the game, each obtained in different ways:

• Pandaren Kite String — a reward for the Pandaren Ambassador achievement, which requires Exalted reputation with all factions of Pandaria. The kite's appearance depends on the character's faction: blue for the Alliance, red for the Horde.
• Jade Pandaren Kite String — a reward for 150 mounts (this guide).
• Golden Pandaren Kite — a rare variant for owners of especially large collections.

• Reputation mounts — the most reliable source. Factions from The Burning Crusade through The War Within sell mounts upon reaching Exalted. Pay special attention to vendors in Dalaran, Stormwind, and Orgrimmar.
• Raid mounts — weekly clears of old raids give a chance to obtain rare mounts. Raids such as Firelands, Ulduar, Icecrown Citadel, and Throne of the Four Winds contain mounts with a guaranteed or increased drop chance on solo runs.
• Mounts for gold — many vendors around the world sell mounts for relatively small amounts of gold. Don't forget to check vendors in both factions' capitals.
• Mounts for achievements — many achievements reward mounts. Check the dungeon, raid, PvP, and exploration achievement sections.
• Professions — Engineering, Tailoring, and Jewelcrafting allow you to craft mounts.
• World events — holiday events (Feast of Winter Veil, Brewfest, Day of the Dead, and others) grant unique mounts for completing quests or purchasing with holiday currency.
• Adventure chest — the Trading Post offers mounts each month for completing Traveler's Log tasks.

Note: only mounts available to a specific character are counted. If you play Alliance, Horde mounts don't count, and vice versa. Racial mounts of the opposite faction also don't count.
