Overview

Kul Tiran Charger

Game iconKul Tiran Charger is an epic ground mount added in patch 8.1.5 of the Battle for Azeroth expansion. It is a massive warhorse of the Kul Tiran cavalry, clad in heavy armor bearing the naval heraldry of the Proudmoore Admiralty. The mount is awarded for completing the recruitment quest chain for the Kul Tiran human allied race and is available only to Alliance characters.

The mount journal states: "The Kul Tiran military prides itself on its prowess at sea, thanks to its powerful navy, and on land, thanks to its heavy cavalry." The mount model is a sturdy, broad-chested horse characteristic of the Kul Tiran breed, adorned with golden tack and the heraldry of House Proudmoore.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is awarded as a quest reward, with no element of randomness. Once you complete the recruitment chain, the charger lands in your collection.
  • Unique model — the Kul Tiran Charger uses a horse model specific to the Kul Tiran humans: large, broad-chested, and distinct from the standard Stormwind horses.
  • Available to all Alliance characters — once obtained, the mount appears in the collection of every Alliance character on your account.
  • No reputation required — as of patch 9.0.1, you no longer need to reach Exalted with the Proudmoore Admiralty to begin the recruitment chain.
  • Bonus perk — in addition to the mount, you unlock the Kul Tiran human allied race for creating new characters.

How to Obtain

The Kul Tiran Charger is awarded for completing the quest Made in Kul Tiras — the final task in the allied race recruitment chain. This requires completing several preparatory steps.

  1. Reach level 40 on any Alliance character.
  2. Complete the Kul Tiras story campaign by earning the achievement A Nation United (includes completing all three Kul Tiras zones and the Pride of Kul Tiras questline).
  3. Complete the Alliance war campaign by earning the achievements Ready for War (patch 8.0) and Tides of Vengeance (patch 8.1).
  4. Travel to the Stormwind Embassy (northern part of the city) and pick up the starting quest of the recruitment chain.
  5. Complete the entire 20-quest chain, finishing with the quest Made in Kul Tiras.
  6. Receive the Kul Tiran Charger automatically as your reward.

Unlock Requirements

The requirements for unlocking allied races have been significantly simplified since the Battle for Azeroth era. As of patch 9.0.1 (Shadowlands), Blizzard removed the Exalted requirement with the Proudmoore Admiralty faction. The current requirements are:

Mandatory Conditions

Achievement A Nation United Completing the story chains in all three Kul Tiras zones and rescuing Jaina Proudmoore
Achievements Ready for War and Tides of Vengeance Completing the Alliance war campaign (patches 8.0 and 8.1). The Battle of Dazar'alor raid is not required

How to Reach the Stormwind Embassy

The Stormwind Embassy is where all Alliance allied race recruitment chains begin. The building is located in the northern part of Stormwind.

  2. Head to the northern part of the city, toward the Embassy building (coordinates approximately 52, 14)
  3. Inside the Embassy, find Aysa Cloudsinger or Lady Jaina Proudmoore — they will offer the starting quest of the recruitment chain

Preparation: Completing the Kul Tiras Story

If you have not yet completed the Kul Tiras storylines, here is a brief plan of action.

The "A Nation United" Achievement

To earn this achievement, you must complete the main story chains in all three Kul Tiras zones:

  • Tiragarde SoundTiragarde Tenacity. Main story: fighting the pirates of Freehold, aiding House Proudmoore
  • DrustvarThe Drust and the Furious. Main story: investigating witch rituals, opposing Gorak Tul
  • Stormsong ValleyStormsong and Dance. Main story: resolving the conflict between the Stormsong houses

After completing the three zones, the final chain Pride of Kul Tiras opens — rescuing Jaina Proudmoore from Tol Dagor.

The "Tides of Vengeance" Achievement

The Alliance war campaign includes quests from patches 8.0 and 8.1:

  • 8.0 quests — establishing beachheads in Zandalar, a series of quests in Nazmir, Vol'dun, and Zuldazar. They conclude with the achievement Ready for War.
  • 8.1 quests — the continuation of the campaign, concluding with the achievement Tides of Vengeance.

At a high level (70–80), all Kul Tiras quests and the war campaign go very quickly, since the enemies die instantly.

Optimizing Your Run

How Much Time It Takes

Stage Approximate time
Kul Tiras story (three zones + "Pride of Kul Tiras") 6–10 hours (from scratch)
Alliance war campaign (8.0 + 8.1) 3–5 hours
Recruitment chain (20 quests) 30–60 minutes
Total 10–16 hours

If part of the story is already done, the total time is reduced. You can check your progress through the achievements panel in the "Kul Tiras" section.

Tips for Speeding Things Up

  • Use the Chromie system — if your character is below level 50, enable the Battle for Azeroth timeline through Chromie in Stormwind to access Kul Tiras content with scaling
  • Start with the story — complete the main story quests without getting sidetracked by side quests. Only the main chains are needed for the achievement
  • The war campaign can be done in parallel — war campaign quests open up as you gain levels and are not tied to a specific Kul Tiras zone
  • Everything is faster at a high level — at level 80, enemies in the Kul Tiras zones pose no threat, and quests are completed in a flash
  • Check your map — some war campaign quests begin with tasks aboard the ship Wind's Redemption in Boralus Harbor. If you don't see the next quest, look aboard the ship

Tips

1

Alliance-only mount — the Kul Tiran Charger is available exclusively to Alliance faction characters. The equivalent mount for the Horde is the inv_triceratopszandalariZandalari Direhorn, awarded for unlocking the Zandalari troll allied race.

2

No reputation needed — don't waste time grinding reputation with the Proudmoore Admiralty for this mount. The requirement was removed as of patch 9.0.1.

3

Ground only — the Kul Tiran Charger is a strictly ground mount. If flight matters to you, use it in zones where flight is unavailable, and choose a different mount for flying.

4

Check your progress before starting — open the achievements panel and find Allied Races: Kul Tiran Human. Part of the conditions may already be met on your account.

5

Don't forget the heritage — after unlocking the race, create a Kul Tiran character and reach level 50 to earn the unique heritage armor set.

6

The recruitment quests are simple — the chain of 20 quests consists mostly of dialogue and short tasks. There is minimal combat, and all of it can be completed at any level.
