Nightfall Darkcaster's Gavel is a one-handed mace from The War Within expansion, added alongside the seasonal Nightfall scenario and the Radiance of the Flame faction. It is a weapon for Intellect specializations: it carries Intellect and Stamina, Critical Strike and Mastery rating, and the "Essence Drain" effect — when an enemy or a devout ally dies near you, part of their soul briefly increases your Intellect.

Visually it is a dark headed hammer in the purple-twilight palette of the order of dark casters: a faceted striking head with a cold glow on a short haft. The model belongs to a weapon set with a "nightly" tint, awarded for taking part in the Nightfall event in Hallowfall. The required level is 80.

The weapon is tied to the seasonal Nightfall event in the Hallowfall zone and the Radiance of the Flame faction. There are several ways to obtain it depending on the difficulty version of the item.

Buying from a vendor (the main method). The appearance version is sold by Vesper Churnmoat — a dealer in defiled armor from the Radiance of the Flame camp by Morgaine's Tears in the west of Hallowfall:

• The price is 1 Radiant Emblem of Service.
• This emblem is awarded for the weekly quest The Flame Burns Eternal, which requires you to complete the Nightfall scenario.
• The vendor version binds on pickup, so it is most reliable to buy it specifically for the appearance.

Scenario drop. Versions with a different binding drop from the rewards of the Nightfall scenario itself — from the event's final boss and from the reward bags you receive for completing it. The drop is not guaranteed, so if you definitely need the appearance, it is easier to buy it from Vesper Churnmoat for an emblem.

• It suits dark, "shadowy" looks for priests, shamans, and druids in a purple-and-black palette.
• The twilight glow of the head harmonizes with the armor of the order of dark casters and with sets in a cold purple tint.
