Get Nightfall Darkcaster's Kris
Overview

Nightfall Darkcaster's Kris is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in the The War Within expansion with patch 11.1.5. It is a weapon for intellect specializations: mages, warlocks, priests, shamans, druids and evokers.
The dagger is built on the "casual" Arathi gear model from Hallowfall — a curved blade with a faceted pommel and a distinctive forged crossguard. The Nightfall Darkcaster's version is painted in the purple-dark tones of the Night Order cult, while the "light" Arathi variant of the same model is kept in a white-and-gold palette. Thanks to its gloomy coloring, the dagger fits well into any look leaning toward shadow, corruption and dark magic.
This is part of a single Nightfall Darkcaster's weapon set, which also includes a one-handed mace, a staff, a wand and an off-hand item. All of them come from the same source and share a common color theme.
Source
The Nightfall Darkcaster's Kris is sold by a vendor rather than dropping from bosses. The source is tied to the "Nightfall" event and the "Flame's Radiance" faction in Hallowfall.
- The vendor is Vesper Churnmoat, who stands in the Flame's Radiance faction camp west of Mereldar, on the southern edge of Hallowfall.
- Vendor coordinates:
/way Hallowfall 28.3 56.0. - The price is 1
Radiant Emblem of Service for the dagger. - It binds when picked up, so you should buy it on the character who actually needs it for their appearance collection.
The Radiant Emblem of Service is a weekly currency. You can obtain it as follows:
- Pick up the weekly quest The Flame Burns Eternal from a faction representative in the same camp west of Mereldar.
- Complete the "Nightfall" scenario — a series of phases that starts once per hour — and help finish off the enemy champion at the end.
- For turning in the quest you receive a "Radiant Service Bag," which contains 1 emblem, along with Valorstones and resonance crystals.
- The quest repeats on other characters, so over a week you can gather several emblems by running the event on alts.
Since the emblem source is limited to one per week per character, collecting the entire weapon set stretches over several weeks if you only play your main character.
Alternatives
The dagger has a direct "twin" by model and several items from the same set. All of them are built on a single Arathi-weapon silhouette.
| Item | Type / stat | Source | Wowhead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agility dagger | Vesper Churnmoat, 1 emblem | ||
| One-handed intellect mace | Vesper Churnmoat, 1 emblem | ||
| Off-hand item | Vesper Churnmoat, 1 emblem |
If you want the same dagger but in the light white-and-gold coloring, take a look at the "casual" Arathi gear: the same model was reissued in a white variant among the Hallowfall rewards in patch 11.1.5. The agility dagger "Nightfall Curseblade's Knife" is visually identical and also works if your main character doesn't wield intellect weapons.
Who It Suits Visually
- Harmonizes with the purple Nightfall Darkcaster's armor set — the dagger and the cloth set share a single Night Order palette.
- Suits warlock and Shadow priest looks leaning into dark magic thanks to its gloomy purple coloring.
- Looks good paired with the off-hand item from the same set — the "Nightfall Darkcaster's Implement."
- Contrasts with light white-and-gold armor: the dark blade serves as an accent in "holy" paladin or Light priest looks.
- The curved silhouette with a faceted pommel fits thematic sets for cultists, shadows and night hunters.
Tips
Take the weekly quest "The Flame Burns Eternal" every week — it is the only steady source of Radiant Emblems of Service.
The "Nightfall" scenario starts once per hour; the time of the next start is visible in the "Events" tab of the quest log and via an icon on the map.
The dagger binds when picked up, so buy it right away on the character who needs it, not on your main "just in case."
To speed up collecting the whole weapon set, run the event and turn in the quest on several characters — each one brings its own emblem.
One emblem is enough for exactly one item, so decide in advance what to buy first: the dagger, the mace, the staff, the wand or the off-hand item.
If you only want the appearance, it's enough to buy the item, learn its appearance from the collection, and then optionally sell or scrap the dagger itself.
For the agility appearance, take the "Nightfall Curseblade's Knife" from the same vendor — it uses the same model.
