Get Nightfall

Nightfall is an epic two-handed axe that hails from the era of classic World of Warcraft. It is a massive battle axe with a broad blade of dark metal and a distinctive bluish-steel sheen, long since a recognizable look among weapon collectors.

The axe suits classes that wield two-handed axes: warriors, paladins, demon hunters, death knights, and shamans in the Enhancement specialization. Beyond its appearance, the weapon carries a built-in effect — on hit it can inflict "Spell Vulnerability" on the target, increasing the spell damage it takes. Its combat value is long outdated, and today the item is taken solely for its look for transmogrification.

Nightfall is a crafted weapon; it cannot be looted from bosses or found in a chest. To obtain the axe, you need a character with the Classic Blacksmithing profession at skill level 300 who has learned the recipe Plans: Nightfall.

The plans themselves are sold by only one vendor — Lokhtos Darkbargainer in the Grim Guzzler tavern within the Blackrock Depths dungeon. To unlock the sale of the plans, you need Exalted reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood faction. This is the most labor-intensive stage: reputation builds up by turning in dark iron ore and rare resources from the Molten Core, as well as by completing repeatable quests.

The finished weapon becomes soulbound when equipped, so it cannot be crafted for another character — only the one who equips the axe themselves unlocks the appearance.

• It fits the grim looks of a warrior or an avenging paladin thanks to the cold sheen of the blade.
• It contrasts with light bronze and gold armor — a debatable choice, but one that puts a striking accent on the weapon.
• It works well in a "Blackrock Depths veteran" concept, emphasizing the axe's origin in a dwarven forge.
