Get Pale Regal Cervid mount

Pale Regal Cervid is an epic ground mount added in patch 9.2 "Eternity's End" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a majestic creature from Zereth Mortis, the ancestor of the deer known on Azeroth and in other mortal worlds. The mount is created through the Protoform Synthesis system in Zereth Mortis after obtaining the schematic from the Cyphers of the First Ones achievement.

• Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is created through a crafting system rather than dropping at random. Once you gather all the materials and unlock the schematic, the mount is yours
• Prestige — obtaining the schematic requires fully exploring the Cypher Console, which takes time and persistence. Far from every player sees the research through to the end
• Unique model — the cervid stands apart from the standard deer of Azeroth. Its pale coloring and protoform design make this mount instantly recognizable
• Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in your collection across every character on the account
• Ground mount — the Pale Regal Cervid is strictly a ground mount

Step 1. Unlock Access to Zereth Mortis

Zereth Mortis is a patch 9.2 zone, available after completing the introductory story chain.

1. Travel to Oribos — the central city of the Shadowlands
2. Begin the Zereth Mortis quest chain, which starts automatically upon entering Oribos on a character of appropriate level
3. Complete the introductory quests until the quest "That Old Waystone" opens — after finishing it, a permanent portal to Zereth Mortis appears in Oribos
4. The portal is located in the northern part of the Ring of Fates on the second floor of Oribos

Step 2. Complete the Zereth Mortis Campaign Through Chapter 3

To access the Cypher Console, you must complete the main story line through the end of the third chapter. Upon completion, you receive the quest Cyphers of the First Ones, which unlocks the Cypher Console in Haven (the northwestern part of Zereth Mortis).

Step 3. Fully Explore the Cypher Console

The Cypher Console is a progression system with several research branches. To earn the Cyphers of the First Ones achievement, you must research every branch to completion.

Key branches:

• Dealic Understanding — costs 200 cyphers, research time 3 days 18 hours. Unlocks pet crafting through Protoform Synthesis
• Sopranos Understanding — costs 220 cyphers, research time 5 days 18 hours. Unlocks mount crafting through Protoform Synthesis

Cyphers of the First Ones are earned through world quests, killing rare enemies, opening chests, and completing quests in Zereth Mortis. Full research takes roughly 3–4 weeks.

Step 4. Obtain the Schematic

After completing all Cypher Console research, you earn the "Cyphers of the First Ones" achievement. The "Pale Regal Cervid" schematic arrives by in-game mail. Check your mailbox.

Step 5. Gather the Materials

Crafting requires three components:

400x Genesis Mote

The main consumable material. Genesis Motes are gathered everywhere in Zereth Mortis:

• Killing any mobs in the zone
• Opening chests
• Fishing in the waters of Zereth Mortis
• World quests

1x Protoform Sentience Crown

A rare material needed to grant the protoform consciousness. Sources:

• Elite mobs in Zereth Mortis (Antedeluvian Crushers, Forgotten Wardens in the Burgeoning Forge)
• Elite mobs in the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid
• Low chance from Olea's Stash

1x Cervid Lattice

The lattice for creating the cervid's body. Sources:

• Killing cervid mobs in Zereth Mortis (carnivorous cervids, other cervids in the zone)
• The rare enemy Elder Challi (coordinates 51.6, 68.0) — increased drop chance
• A chest in the Cache of the Protoform Vault (one guaranteed copy)
• Low chance from Olea's Stash

Step 6. Craft the Mount

1. Travel to the Protoform Vault — a cave in the eastern part of Zereth Mortis

2. Approach the Protoform Synthesis Forge for mounts (Servitor Interface)
3. Select the "Pale Regal Cervid" schematic
4. Confirm the craft — the materials are consumed, and you receive the item Pale Regal Cervid
5. Use the item to learn the mount

Farming Genesis Motes

The fastest method is mass-killing mobs in Zereth Mortis. Optimal spots:

• Devourers at the blue portal — devourers regularly spawn from portals in the central part of the zone. The local automa help kill them, speeding up the farm
• Elite mobs — yield more motes per kill
• Fishing — an alternative source if you are tired of killing mobs

At the current maximum level, all mobs in Zereth Mortis die instantly. Gathering 400 motes takes roughly 30–60 minutes.

Farming the Protoform Sentience Crown

This is usually the hardest component. Recommendations:

• Kill elite mobs in the Burgeoning Forge (Antedeluvian Crushers and Forgotten Wardens)
• Check Olea's caches on every visit to the zone
• If luck is not on your side, keep up the daily farm of elite mobs — the Crown will drop sooner or later

Farming the Cervid Lattice

Cervids dwell in several places across Zereth Mortis. The most efficient option:

• Kill the rare enemy Elder Challi at coordinates 51.6, 68.0 — it has an increased chance of dropping the lattice
• Farm ordinary carnivorous cervids in the southern part of the zone
• Take the guaranteed lattice from the chest in the Protoform Vault

Total Time to Obtain

Most of the time goes into the Cypher Console research, since each branch has a real-time timer. There is no way to speed up this process — all you can do is wait and gather cyphers for the next branches in parallel.
