Overview

Perennial Punching Dagger

The Game iconPerennial Punching Dagger is a one-handed fist weapon of blue quality from the Dragonflight expansion. Despite the word "dagger" in its name, it is a fist weapon by type: a compact claw-blade mounted on a reinforced grip that is held in the hand like a bladed knuckle-duster.

The appearance is done in a natural green palette with organic, seemingly sprouted shapes — the weapon was added alongside the Emerald Dream content and stylistically echoes its druidic, plant-based theme. That makes it a great addition to "nature" and "druidic" looks.

Fist weapons are used by rogues, shamans, feral druids, monks, and demon hunters, so the appearance comes in handy for a wide range of melee characters. For transmog it is the model that matters — the item's stats have long been irrelevant.

Source

The Game iconPerennial Punching Dagger drops from a creature called Gluttonous Overgrowth. This hostile plant appears in the Zereth Mortis zone during the dream seed sprouting event.

  • To summon the source of the drop, you need to plant a dream seed in a special plot in Zereth Mortis and protect the sprout. As it grows, hostile plants appear around it, including the Gluttonous Overgrowth.
  • The chance to get the dagger from a single creature is low — around 2% — so the appearance is considered a farming goal that takes several runs.
  • The seed-planting event is public: any player can join someone else's plot, which noticeably speeds up clearing the waves.
  • The drop is bound to the character on pickup, so you cannot pass the dagger to another character.

Dream seeds drop throughout the zone, are awarded for supply quests and for reputation, so a regular participant in Emerald Dream events gets plenty of attempts without dedicated farming.

Who It Suits Visually

  • It fits "druidic" and nature-themed sets with a green and woody palette.
  • It harmonizes with Emerald Dream and grove keeper styled looks.
  • It looks great paired with another fist blade of the same kind in the off hand for a symmetrical dual-wield look.
  • It is a fine accent for a "forest guardian" or "child of nature" concept on a rogue or demon hunter.

Tips

1

Farm the appearance during your regular trips into the Emerald Dream — along the way you will gather the zone's reputation and currency.

2

Plant larger seeds: the bigger the sprout, the more enemy waves and the more drop attempts per event.

3

Join other players' plots — the public event lets you farm the Gluttonous Overgrowth in a group of random players.

4

The low drop chance of around 2% means it is worth bracing for several events in a row rather than a single kill.

5

Classes with area damage are handy for clearing the waves — a druid, demon hunter, or mage will cut through the vegetation quickly.

6

Collect the appearance on the character you actually want it on: the item binds on pickup and cannot be traded.

7

Once obtained, the appearance is saved in the account-wide transmogrification collection.
